The question was simple: what are the most romantic places in Lisbon? We received more than 200 responses with some of the most fantastic places Lisbon has to offer all lovebirds “hit” with Cupid’s arrow.
True nests of passion, where promises of eternal love are sworn, these are just some of the most romantic places in Lisbon for Secret Lisbon’s most passionate readers.
Any viewpoint in Lisbon
There’s something spectacular about dating at a view point, almost always with a fabulous view wherever the viewpoint is facing.
Having tender kisses at the Maat viewpoint, the Nossa Senhora do Monte viewpoint, the Santa Luzia viewpoint or even the Santa Catarina viewpoint, better known as the Adamastor viewpoint, can be truly incredible.
Whichever Lisbon viewpoint you choose to take your better half to admire Lisbon from above, our readers guarantee that it’s in these romantic places in Lisbon that you’ll get your most passionate kiss ever.
Largo da Achada, in Mouraria
At the risk of this little paradise being “invaded” by many curious people, we can’t remain indifferent to one of Lisbon’s most attractive spots, where you can stop for a while to take a break from touring the Mouraria neighborhood.
Largo da Achada is just behind the Church of São Cristóvão, next to one of the oldest houses in the city, with doors and windows that are very hard to find in Lisbon today.
In the green of Monsanto
The color red is more associated with love than green! Well, here too it depends on club preference, doesn’t it?
But choosing the green of Monsanto Forest Park to spend quality time with our passion is undoubtedly one of our readers’ top choices.
Monsanto Park has so many refuges for you to discover, so many places to go for a walk and to “steal” a passionate kiss, for example, next to the Monsanto Panoramic Viewpoint, that this could well become your place of choice for dating in Lisbon.
Garcia d’Orta Gardens, in Parque das Nações
Located in the riverside area, more precisely in Parque das Nações, between the Vasco da Gama Tower and the Altice Arena, these gardens are authentic refuges in Lisbon, made up of several plots that represent the exotic and tropical botany of countries linked to the Portuguese Discoveries, such as Timor, São Tomé or Brazil.
Inside these gardens we’re sure you’ll find your place of refuge away from the stress of the city and, as they’re covered with many trees, there’s always shade for the hottest days.
Monument to the Discoveries
The banks of the Tagus are one of the places where you’ll see most couples in love, strolling along hand in hand, chatting lovingly about their future together.
But it’s by the Padrão dos Descobrimentos, preferably when the sun is setting, that our readers say that the warmest moment can happen. We couldn’t agree more!
Moinhos Park, in Restelo
The whole park is a veritable amphitheater with several green spaces, a lake and a viewpoint overlooking the Tagus that will leave you slack-jawed.
And, at the top of the hill, there’s a huge leisure area where the two large windmills are located.
Because it’s so huge, we’re sure you’ ll find a “corner” where you can relax in peace and quiet.
Cold Greenhouse
There’s no doubt that this year, love is greener than ever! And whoever chooses Estufa Fria to spend this date in, will certainly not leave with any regrets.
Estufa Fria is located in Parque Eduardo VII and we too can guarantee that, in this special place right in the heart of Lisbon, you’ll be able to enjoy a very pleasant walk with your better half.
Torel Garden
This is one of our favorite gardens and the ideal place to enjoy a breathtaking view of the western part of Lisbon, the Avenida da Liberdade valley and the São Roque hill, which houses the São Pedro de Alcântara garden.
It has several garden benches and a café with a terrace (during part of the year), so there are several places where you can sit and chat with your (future) soul mate on a first date.
Girlfriends at Cais das Colunas
The reconstruction of the Muro das Namoradeiras, the elimination of the landfill at Cais das Colunas and the refurbishment of facilities near the station and at Doca da Marinha, where you can now relax on the terraces to watch the traditional boats, have made this an even more pleasant place to be with those you most want to be with.
That’s why it’s quite normal for this area to be full of couples taking advantage of the late afternoon to pamper themselves.
Anywhere in Sintra
The town of Sintra is undoubtedly one of the most romantic places in Lisbon.
The proof of this is the atmosphere there, as well as the palaces that are always reminiscent of the greatest love stories.
The Pena Palace, Monserrate Palace or Quinta da Regaleira are just some of the incredible examples that make Sintra one of the most exciting places in Portugal, which breathes love through every pore.
Ajuda Botanical Garden
The Ajuda Botanical Garden has many curiosities and secrets, which you can take the opportunity to discover with your better half next February 14th.
Gulbenkian Garden
To talk about romantic places in Lisbon without mentioning the Gulbenkian Garden would simply be a crime.
Most visited during the hottest days of the year, the Gulbenkian Garden has that mysterious je ne sais quois that can get anyone excited.
Oh, and it has lots of “hidden” corners where you can maybe get your first kiss.
Alfama at night
What better place to fall in love with your partner than in Alfama? For us, there isn’t!
We love this typical Lisbon neighborhood and all it has to offer during the daytime hours, but like any typical Lisbon neighborhood, it’s at night that other attractions are revealed, the kind that many Lisbon lovers love.
Beaches
Yes, the beaches, whatever they may be, on the Cascais coastline or on the Costa da Caparica.
The beaches are undoubtedly one of our readers’ favorite places, and to these they have “added”, once again, that sunset that everyone wants to see and admire at the end of the day. And as a couple it’s even more romantic!
