- Map with rooftops in Lisbon, and a list for your cell phone.
We know that you also love the outdoors, so we’ve combined two very important factors: the view over the city and drinks on these incredible rooftops in Lisbon.
A visit to one of these terraces is the best excuse to feel the breeze of cooler air flowing over the top of one of these spaces, with fabulous views over the city and plenty of drink options to cool off in the evening.
Let’s get to know the best rooftops in Lisbon?
Lovely Castelo
Our most recent visit to a rooftop in Lisbon took place on what is the oldest terrace in the country and perhaps the world. Lovely Castelo ‘s rooftop dates back to 1147 and is located within the walls of São Jorge Castle.
It is also, without a doubt, one of the places with the best panoramic view over Lisbon, where the showy terrace, right against one of the castle’s roadsides, opens up a huge window onto the capital.
Inside, in what used to be the Casa dos Leões, you’ll find a comfortable restaurant serving a menu full of flavors for all tastes. But, as we’ve said before, it’s outside that you’ll find the best features of this Lovely Castle.
Address: Rua de Santa Cruz do Castelo (inside the walls of São Jorge Castle)
Sky Bar by SEEN
Lisbon has two of the best rooftops in Europe, according to the travel website Big Seven Travel. And one of them is Sky Bar by SEEN, which came in at a spectacular 6th place in a list of 50 European terraces.
It is located on the ninth floor of the Tivoli Avenida da Liberdade Hotel, an icon from the 1930s, and stands out for being a space full of elegance – now with new décor – but with the same spectacular panoramic view over practically the entire capital.
With a high level of comfort, this is undoubtedly one of the hottest rooftops on this list, with a bar and restaurant that serves an impressive selection of cocktails and food: we recently went there to try the new menu, where we highlight the Prego de Atum (35€) as well as the SEEN Club sandwich (35€).
It’s possible that on the day of your visit you’ll find live music or a DJ set.
Address: Avenida da Liberdade 185
Rossio Gastrobar
Sophisticated and relaxed are just some of the adjectives we can say about this magnificent rooftop located between Restauradores and Rossio, in downtown Lisbon.
It is on the 7th floor of the Altis Avenida Hotel and offers a unique combination of good food, drink and music, with breathtaking views of the Rossio, São Jorge Castle and the Tagus River at almost 360º.
The food is of high quality, which is why the prices can be higher than average, although you can choose from some more affordable options, especially when it comes to cocktails.
Address: Rua 1º de Dezembro 118 (Baixa)
IDB Lisbon
Lisbon’s largest terrace reopened its doors on May 23 with a party for the whole family!
With around 3,000m2, the IDB Lisbon rooftop brings together restaurants, sports activities and a very diverse cultural offer, in a space that used to be known by almost all Lisboners as Entreposto.
It is the largest panoramic terrace in Lisbon and offers unobstructed views, a restaurant with food and drink, as well as the chance to play sports or enjoy the arts.
Address: Praça José Queirós 1 (Moscavide/Parque das Nações)
Opening hours: Thursday from 12pm to 9pm; Friday and Saturday from 12pm to midnight; Sunday from 12pm to 8pm (2023 opening hours)
Garden Roof Bar
The Garden Roof Bar, located on the top floor of the Altis Grand Hotel, is due to reopen soon.
If nothing changes from last year, you’ll find a fresh decor and a delicious menu, which you can accompany with the usual unobstructed view of the city.
A resident DJ and cocktails are obvious excuses to go to this place, which is perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle and relaxing on a summer’s afternoon or for a lively evening with friends.
Address: Rua Castilho 11
Catch Me
Le Chat has changed its name to Catch Me, but it still has one of the best rooftops in Lisbon.
Catch Me combines a number of ingredients that make this space incredible and unique, like few others in the capital.
Starting with its location, in the Rua das Janelas Verdes area and right next to the Museu de Arte Antiga, which offers a spectacular view of the Tagus and the 25 de Abril Bridge.
You’re welcome here at any time of the day: whether it’s for a panoramic meal, a coffee with friends, a late afternoon cocktail with the sunset as a backdrop or an evening drink that brings you closer to the stars.
Address: Jardim 9 de Abril (Santos)
Editorial Terrace
The mythical terrace on the 8th floor of the Pollux building, located in Baixa, is going to surprise everyone again this summer.
Located on Rua dos Fanqueiros, in downtown Lisbon, it has been transformed into a restaurant-bar with a wine library that invites you to have a drink or a snack while you take your best panoramic photo of Lisbon, with unobstructed views of the Santa Justa elevator, the Carmo Convent, the Tagus river and the Amoreiras hills, as well as other equally interesting spots.
Address: Rua dos Fanqueiros 276, Piso 8 (Baixa)
Carmo Rooftop
Nestled between the Ruínas do Carmo and the Elevador de Santa Justa, in Chiado, the Carmo Rooftop manages to combine the best of both worlds: the best view over Lisbon and plenty to drink and eat.
One of the highlights of rooftops is undoubtedly their location and the view – the more panoramic the better – that they can offer their customers.
Address: Terraços do Carmo (Largo Carmo – Chiado)
Lost In
Lost in is a sort of all-in-one: it’s a restaurant, it’s a terrace and it’s one of the most incredible rooftops in Lisbon, which in our opinion fits perfectly with the definition of a rooftop.
Okay, it’s not on the top of a building, but I think you can pass it up, right? Not least because the offer, a fusion between the Orient and the Mediterranean, promises to leave you dazzled.
Address: Rua D. Pedro V 56D
V Rooftop Bar
Located in The Vintage Hotel, it stands out for its vertical garden, but the view always takes us away to the incredible scenery that stretches as far as São Jorge Castle.
The menu of fresh cocktails and snacks also offers a variety of options to welcome summer.
Address: Rua Rodrigo da Fonseca 2 (Príncipe Real)
Sky Bar Oriente
Taking the elevator up from the reception of the Hotel Tivoli Oriente to the 16th floor is a snap, but once you get there you’ll want to stay forever.
From up there, you can almost touch the sky and embrace the Tagus, which serves as the main backdrop to this bar with 360º views over Parque das Nações.
The signature cocktails make it the perfect spot for an evening for two or an after-work drink with colleagues.
For the stomach, there are snacks and fusion sushi created on the spot.
Address: Avenida D. João II 27 (Parque das Nações)
Railway
This incredible terrace has the Tagus as a backdrop and Santa Apolónia station nearby.
It serves drinks and snacks until late at night, inviting you to a relaxed sunset until nightfall, with food and drinks to the sound of DJ sets.
Address: Rua de Santa Apolónia 59
Mama Shelter
With a capacity for 200 people, the terrace at Mama Shelter Lisboa is one of the newest and largest in the city, with incredible panoramic views.
After the inauguration of the hotel and restaurant and the presentation of its more than complete and tasty brunch, it’s time to find out more about this Lisbon terrace.
Address: Rua do Vale de Pereiro 19
Lumi Rooftop Bar & Restaurant
The other terrace in Lisbon to make it into this Top 50 is Lumi Rooftop Bar & Restaurant, which came in at a no less honorable 12th position.
Perfect for a romantic date, thanks to its more intimate “corners”, Lumi offers an incredible view of the Tagus and the Castle, which you can admire while enjoying a very interesting gastronomic offer by Chef João Silva.
And don’t forget the varied cocktail menu, of course!
Address: Rua de São Pedro de Alcântara 35
Park Rooftop
It’s one of the trendiest places, and also one of our favorites. With a décor based on wood and intense vegetation, when you’re at Park you almost feel like you’re in a sunny forest.
The view of the city from the terrace is very pleasant.
Address: Calçada do Combro 58 (Chiado)
Memmo Alfama Terrace
Located at the gates of the Alfama neighborhood, in Portas do Sol, Memmo even has a rooftop swimming pool , as well as an incredible view of the Tagus.
The bar is stunning in itself, with a modern and very clean design, making it one of our favorite places.
Address: Travessa das Merceeiras, 27 (Portas do Sol, Alfama)
The Insólito
We don’t go to The Insólito just for the view, but also for the food, the atmosphere and the decor.
It’s an unusual place located in Príncipe Real, and it doesn’t present itself in a conventional way.
Address: Rua de São Pedro de Alcântara 83 (Príncipe Real)
Rooftop Bar Mundial
The season of sunsets and parties has started at the Rooftop Bar of the Hotel Mundial, near Rossio.
With a program full of novelties, as well as a menu of delicacies signed by Chef Vítor Sobral, on this terrace facing downtown Lisbon you’ll be able to count on many surprises under the theme “Better Together”.
Every Friday evening there are parties with various DJ sets and guest artists.
Address: Praça Martim Moniz 2 (Hotel Mundial)
Miradouro de Baixo (Carpintarias de São Lázaro)
One of Lisbon’s newest rooftops, Miradouro de Baixo, reopened on July 6 in Mouraria , and now joins the ranks of the 20 viewpoints scattered all over Lisbon.
In this space, which is part of the new Carpintarias de São Lázaro Cultural Center, you can see Lisbon from another perspective.
Address: Rua de São Lázaro 72 (Mouraria)
