Anyone passing through the parking lot on Rua 1.º de Maio in Alcântara, across from Carris, now has a new work of art right in front of them.
That’s because the cover of “Radiante Estrela Decadente,” David Fonseca’s tenth studio album, was transformed into a true mural by visual artist Ricardo Romero.
The album, sung entirely in Portuguese, is set to be released on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at midnight.
A mural created in full view of passersby

Romero painted the mural last Monday, November 2, and anyone who passed by throughout the day saw the image take shape until the complete work was revealed.
The idea for the image came from David Fonseca, but Romero reinterpreted it using his own artistic language and adapted it to the scale of the wall.

The musician describes the artwork as a gift to the city,
“Something that was created in my workspace is now out in the city, where anyone can come across it.”
Street artist Romero, meanwhile, speaks of an encounter between two visual languages, which brings “the visual and musical universe” of the album “out onto the street.”
An album cover created with a child’s camera

The cover was based on photographs that David Fonseca took with a children’s thermal printer camera. The camera prints only in black, like ATM receipts, and produces halftone images—a grid of dots also used in screen printing.
Later, the musician assembled the fragments like a puzzle to recreate a face in a vague manner. He then created the cover as a six-color silkscreen print on white paper, in which the image changes shape with each added color.
