The third edition of Europe’s last major music festival, the MEO KALORAMA is about to begin, but first we’ll tell you what you can do or visit in the vicinity of the huge Parque da Bela Vista, which this year will once again welcome all festival-goers on August 29th, 30th and 31st.
Parque da Bela Vista is one of the largest the city’s green spaces and is located in the eastern part of Lisbon, almost to the Parque das Nações.
So this is where you’ll find most of our suggestions, starting with visits to art galleries to the gastronomic and cultural offer in one of the city’s newest neighborhoods. Let’s go?
Bela Vista Park
Although during the days of the MEO KALORAMA festival it will be “busy”, we couldn’t help but suggest the very park where this summer musical event will take place.
So as soon as the concerts are over, we invite you to come and see one of the highest areas in Lisbon, with an incredible view over the capital and the Tagus River, with a picnic area, viewpoints and several hiking trails.
Vale da Montanha Urban Park
This green park, very close to the place of the MEO KALORAMA, emerged as a natural link between Parque da Bela Vista, Bairro do Armador, Olaias and Avenidas Novas.
It has a recreational area with themed equipment, a kiosk and two squares, as well as several hiking trails and the intersection with a cycle path.
Marvila Skatepark
Among the various skateparks where you can have fun doing aerial maneuvers in Lisbon, the one in Marvila is the closest to the festival, also known as the Vale de Chelas Skatepark.
Marvila neighborhood
And speaking of Marvila, which is one of Lisbon’s most typical and alternative neighborhoods, we suggest several incredible places:
- 8 Marvila: lisbon’s newest multicultural and entrepreneurial business hub;
- Two crows: the first tap room of its kind in Portugal;
- Vertigo Climbing: indoor climbing space with a 400m climbing wall;
- Underdogs Gallery: hosts exhibitions and artist residencies and focuses on the most prominent artists in urban art
- Modern Factory: a place where you can breathe creativity and inspiration;
- Fábrica Braço de Prata: has a restaurant, bookshop, concert hall and ballroom.
Parque das Nações Marina
On your way to the center of one of the newest districts of the Portuguese capital , you’ll find a huge, wide promenade next to the Parque das Nações Marina, with a wide range of cuisine on offer.
With 400 berths, this marina attracts national and international visitors, as well as being the starting point for sailing, canoeing, navigation courses and boat rental activities.
Lisbon Oceanarium
Your arrival at the music festival MEO KALORAMA it’s only complete if you visit Lisbon Oceanarium, which is the most visited cultural venue in Portugal.
It is also one of the most incredible saltwater tanks in the world, with the capacity to house around eight thousand animals and plants of more than 500 species.
Parque das Nações
It is one of the most modern neighborhoods in the whole city, with an endless supply of things to do and visit, from which we highlight three incredible places:
- Vasco da Gama Tower Babylon 360º: is located in one of Lisbon’s most iconic buildings and has a wonderful view;
- Telecabine Lisbon: for one of the most fantastic panoramic walks you can take in the city;
- Urban art pieces: there are 15 pieces of urban art that you can admire during the three days of the festival.
