It’s already well known that the Marvila neighborhood is “in fashion”, and there are countless spaces that have brought renewed energy to this eastern part of Lisbon.
New bars, new restaurants, new art galleries, and, more recently, a cultural center that has completely transformed this area, making it more appealing to those looking for alternative entertainment: the 8 Marvila.
There are many new things in this increasingly “renovated” neighborhood of Marvila, which makes it difficult to choose when going for a stroll.
That’s why we’ve selected some of the places we love to visit in this wonderful neighborhood.
8 Marvila
Located in David Leandro da Silva Square, the 8 Marvila is Lisbon’s newest multicultural and entrepreneurial business hub.
Managed by an independent entity, the 22,000-square-meter space attracts various types of public looking for alternative entertainment in the city, featuring bars, food carts, art galleries, second-hand stores and, more recently, even padel courts.
It also has a 1,500-seat concert hall and offers a variety of experiences from art to gastronomy, with the aim of involving both locals and visitors in a vibrant cultural scene.

Before becoming an art gallery proper, a Underdogs began in 2010 as an artistic platform.
And it was in 2013 that the project was physically established in warehouse 56 in Marvila.
Here, you won’t find anything like what’s in museum halls. The main focus is urban art, or Vhils wouldn’t be one of the mentors of the space.
As well as hosting exhibitions, it also hosts artist residencies and focuses on the most prominent artists of this “new” art form in Portugal and abroad.

Braço de Prata Factory
It’s a restaurant, a bookstore, a concert hall, a party room; in fact, it’s a small cultural center that has already become a destination of choice for those who like to spend a good time in the Marvila district.
In this former Fábrica de Material de Guerra there is theater, cinema, music, gatherings, dance, among many other shows and artistic languages that fill the space’s regular programming.
It’s worth visiting and letting your five senses absorb everything that goes on here.
