Whether it’s hot or cold, Lisbon calls for whole afternoons on the terrace, chatting and drinking beers, especially craft beers.
Don’t be fooled if you think that beer only goes hand in hand with summer. These craft beers are for drinking all year round.
There are beers for all tastes and strengths, with a variety of flavors, aromas and colors and, best of all, they’re made right here in Lisbon.
They may not appeal at first to those less accustomed to these artisanal tastes, but try one or the other, from different brands, and you’ll notice a big difference to those more commercial beers. There’s nothing to it!
It was just over five years ago that the first craft brands began to appear in Lisbon.
Did you know that there are varieties named after typical neighborhoods in Graça? And that there’s an area in the city that’s already called the beer district?
So that you don’t get lost in the city looking for these little beer havens, take note!

Dois Corvos
Dois Corvos began in 2013, but it wasn’t until 2015 that we were able to drink their first craft beer.
A few months later, they opened the first tasting bar of its kind in Marvila, a real taproom with food and drink, right next to the brewery.
They have already produced almost half a hundred flavors and combinations and have 12 varieties always available at the bar and all over the country and abroad.
They are a real success story, with many medals to prove it! They feel they have played an important role in creating the craft beer culture and who are we to doubt it?
Address: Rua Capitão Leitão 94 (Marvila)
Musa
The history of the Musa brand began shortly before 2014, but between trips and startups it wasn ‘t until 2016 that the first craft beer appeared, the great Mick Lager. Ring a bell? That’s right, Musa goes hand in hand with music.
This was followed by Born in the IPA, Red Zeppelin and Twist and Stout. They’ve been in one of the many warehouses in Marvila since 2015 and have been brewing in-house since 2017.
I’m sure you’ve heard of the Musa parties, haven’t you? Be aware that there’s not just beer there, there’s always good music too.
Address: Rua do Vale Formoso 9 (Marvila)
8th Hill
8ª Colinahas been in the heart of the Graça neighborhood, very close to Vila Berta, since 2014.
For us, it has already won the medal for the most original names: they have the Urraca Vendaval, the Zé Arnaldo and the Florinda, which are delicious (tasting video coming soon).
As soon as you arrive at this friendly taproom, order your cerveza, cross the road and be dazzled by the landscape in front of you, with panoramic views of three of Lisbon’s most iconic landmarks: Castelo de São Jorge, Ponte 25 de Abril and Cristo-Rei, as well as the Tagus, of course.
Address: Rua Damasceno Monteiro 8A (Graça); Avenida Infante D. Henrique 334, Armazém 3 (factory in Cabo Ruivo)
LX Brewery
LX Brewery was the first craft beer brewery to appear in Lisbon (previously under the name Sant’Ana), near Estefânia.
The space is not just a factory, it’ s also a store where you can buy ingredients and materials for craft beer production, as well as a bar.
This bar is open every Friday and Saturday from 6pm to 2am. You can go there to eat and drink, try one or more of the house beers and give your opinion.
The idea is for the bar to serve as a stage for new experiences. It has five fixed flavors, which are always available, and custom flavors , tailor-made for certain customers.
Address: Rua do Funchal 5 (Estefânia)
Fermentage Brewpub
Fermentage Brewpub is the new brand by which Lince used to be known. It has also been in Marvila since 2016, with a taproom open every day of the week.
The Fermentage beer brand is now more than just a beer, it’s a lifestyle. And at the bar you’ll find at least 12 types of beer, from stouts to pale ales, IPAs to simple weiss. There’s something for everyone!
Address: Rua Capitão Leitão 1B (Marvila)
The beer district
Since most of these five brands are in the same part of town, people started hearing about the Marvila Beer District.
So it’s only natural that there are lots of events around this golden liquid, because you can already tell that these people are unstoppable, so here’s to the new craft flavors!
