Still partially under construction is the cultural and artistic space that is called 8 Marvila, located in the former premises of the Armazéns Vinícolas Abel Pereira da Fonseca, in Marvila.
When it’s all ready, it will be a space where more and new cultural events will begin to take place, especially the more alternative ones.
But it will also be a multi-faceted place, because here there will also be wine tastings in a special cellar; fun nights at the disco; and even paddle tennis matches, where the highlight will be the availability of nine paddle tennis courts.
The second-hand clothes shops will also have a dedicated space.
22 thousand square meters of culture
Located in Praça David Leandro da Silva, in Marvila, 8 Marvila opened its doors, albeit partially, on September 20, with various activities already taking place in its space.
After the Armazéns Vinícolas Abel Pereira da Fonseca, built in 1910, had been abandoned for so many years, it will now receive a new lease of life, starting with the integration of the Galeria Zé dos Bois, which is moving away from Bairro Alto to this part of the city.
It will also have a stage for a room for shows, concerts and events, built with recycled materials, for around 1,500 people, a nightclub, shops (a total of 22), restaurants and paddle tennis courts, allowing virtually total use of the 22,000 square meters of the former warehouses.
Shops, restaurants and more…
For José Filipe Rebelo Pinto, curator of 8 Marvila,
8 Marvila is a community space, with a cultural component and a social sharing component, which hopes to involve the city, and in particular the Marvila region.”
The restaurant will be headed by MATO, by José Filipe Rebelo Pinto.
In the central square of 8 Marvila there will be a terrace, a bar and two food trucks – Oficina and 150 Gramas, and there will also be the Mexican restaurant Taqueria Paloma, The Pastry Lab and Dear Breakfast.
The commercial spaces will have independent entrepreneurship stores, from second-hand clothes to decoration and design.
In total, 8 Marvila will have 22 commercial stores. The first confirmed in the space are the bicycle restoration store RCICLA, the analog photography of The Lisbon Frame, the clothing stores Black Mamba and Teddy Hats, the tattoo studio of Elisa Rezende, the design and decoration of Napo Runa, and the wines of CUBA Nº 160.
