The Saloio Snail Festival, in Loures, will take place between June 27 and July 14, and the 6th edition of the Festival do Caracol should return to Sintra at the end of July (dates still to be confirmed).
Saloio Snail Festival in Loures
But let’s go in parts! First Saloio Snail Festival in Loures, one of the best known and longest-running in Portugal, with more than 15 days celebrating this summer treat.
At this event, which will be held again this year at Parque Verde do LoureShopping between June 27 and July 14, you’ll be able to eat the best snails and caracoletas in the region, served in a variety of ways.
As well as the classic versions, you’ll also find Feijoada de Car acoleta, Fusili de Caracoleta , Caracoletas à Bulhão Pato, Açorda de Caracol and Cachupa de Caracoleta, to name but a few.
But if none of this convinces you, don’t worry because a street food area has been set up with various alternatives to the event’s main snack.
There will also be the usual craft stalls, concerts and a children’s play area.
Admission to the event is free, from 5pm to 1am.
Snail Festival in Sintra
After passing through Loures, come to the Pavilhão da União Desportiva e Cultural de Nafarros, where the 6th edition of the Caracol Festival in Sintra will once again take place, dedicated to lovers of this summer treat.
Last year it took place over five days at the end of July. So far the dates for this year’s edition are not known.
As always, here too you’ll be able to combine snails and snails with music, folklore and handicrafts.
The biggest event in the municipality of Sintra dedicated to snails is usually organized by the Liga dos Amigos da 3.ª Idade “Os Avós”, together with the União Desportiva Cultural de Nafarros.
Admission to this festival is also free.
