The Belém Active Park has just opened. With top-notch fitness and calisthenics areas , the space replaces the old , dilapidated structures and brings a new green space to Avenida Brasília in Belém.
If you’re in the habit of running, cycling, or walking along Lisbon’s riverfront, you now have a new reason to make a strategic stop. Located on Avenida Brasília, right across from Cordoaria, the newly opened Belém Active Park promises to establish itself as the new meeting spot for urban sports enthusiasts.
Two training areas (of international standard)

It was inaugurated on April 12 (2026) and replaced an old outdoor gym that was already showing clear signs of wear and tear. The Lisbon City Council undertook a complete renovation of the equipment and pavement, creating a modern infrastructure with completely free access.
The space is not limited to being just another set of fitness machines, as it was designed to cater to both those looking for a casual workout and high-performance athletes, organized into two distinct zones:
- Fitness Area
- Calisthenics Area
A new green space along the riverfront

The creation of this sports complex, which represented a municipal investment of around 197,000 euros, went beyond just the sports facilities, as the city government took advantage of the project to revitalize the entire surrounding area, making it more attractive and comfortable for those who want to train or simply relax.
To ensure shaded areas and enhance the landscape, nearly 600 shrubs and 44 new trees were planted. The lawns were also restored, with a more efficient irrigation system installed and 20 park benches refurbished.
