In 2017, there were four times more vegetarians in Portugal than in the previous 10 years, and the trend is for these numbers to grow even more. With these figures in mind, we went in search of the best vegetarian restaurants in the city.
The result is visible all over the city, which now has a greater range of restaurants and services focused on the vegetarian food business sector .
We decided to compile this list of the healthiest restaurants in Lisbon, which offer a more diverse range of dishes on their menus, so that those who want to opt for a healthier lifestyle can find vegetarian meals to eat and cry over.

Local – Your Healthy Kitchen
At Local you’ll find a vast menu, from which we highlight the nine vegetarian or plant-based options… which are delicious!
With a wide range that includes vegan, vegetarian, fish and even poultry dishes, we tried the Black Bean Burger with Quinoa and Guacamole (€13.10) and were completely smitten with the flavors, even with the slight spiciness, which gives this dish that extra bit of deliciousness.
Yes, the dishes are a little expensive, but considering the quality, we found the prices charged by this chain of healthy restaurants quite acceptable.
We visited the Avenida location, but there are three more in Lisbon and Cascais, all beautifully decorated with green plants and comfortable chairs.
Addresses: Rua Rodrigues Sampaio 134 (Avenida); Avenida 24 de Julho 54B (Santos); Rua José D’Esaguy 5C (Alvalade); Rua Padre Moisés da Silva, Loja 13 (Cascais)

Honest Greens
If there are vegetarian restaurants in Lisbon where you can eat excellent plant-based food, the Honest Greens, scattered all over the city, are the best examples.
With seven venues in Portugal, six in Lisbon and one in Porto, Honest Greens restaurants know exactly what they want to present to their customers, from the moment they walk in the door until the end of the meal, always betting on a nutritious offer of fresh and organic food.
But we’re not just talking about food! The decoration of their spaces, which is based on earthy colors, wood and, of course, lots of plants and green details, make these restaurants real “corners” that Nature seems to have “stolen” from the city of concrete and cement.
Addresses: Rua Rodrigues Sampaio 52C (Avenida); Alameda dos Oceanos 21101F (Parque das Nações); Rua Ivens 44 (Chiado); Rua Maria Ulrich 1, loja 11/12 (Amoreiras); Praça Dom Luís L1 (Cais do Sodré); and Calçada da Patriarcal 30 (Príncipe Real)

daTerra
The one we tried is in Bairro Alto, but there are more daTerra vegetarian restaurants around the city.
It serves a lunch buffet that allows you to eat everything you want for a very reasonable price, under 10€. In the case of dinners, the price of the meal goes up a little more, but nothing significant, and it’s still well worth a visit.
As in the group’s other restaurants in Porto, Gaia, Matosinhos, Viseu, Aveiro and Cascais, the offer is entirely vegetarian and varies from day to day.
Address: Rua da Rosa 51 (Bairro Alto)

Oven
You already know Oven from our article, the only Indian and Nepalese restaurant to have a traditional copper oven, a tandoor.
It’s undoubtedly one of our favorite restaurants in downtown Lisbon, and has several vegetarian dishes on its menu that we love.
Address: Rua dos Fanqueiros 232 (Baixa)

Arco Íris
Tucked away on Rua de São José, parallel to Avenida da Liberdade, is this little vegetarian hideaway, always offering dishes of the day, to which you can add the healthiest juices in town.
