Ribeira das Naus is once again closed to traffic every Sunday, and only walking or cycling is allowed on this avenue, which connects Cais do Sodré to Campo das Cebolas.
The measure to ban cars on this road came about at the end of September, following the European Car Free Day initiative, and Avenida da Ribeira das Naus will now be closed to traffic every Sunday, between 8am and 8pm, at least until the end of this year.
It should be noted that this is not the first time this ban has happened. The first time was in 2018, but due to the pandemic it was a measure that no longer made sense.
Now it’s back, much to the delight of locals and visitors who choose this part of the city to walk, cycle, relax by the Tagus River or simply enjoy the terraces.
So now you know, every Sunday, between 8am and 8pm, Ribeira das Naus will be closed to cars between Largo Corpo Santo and Rua dos Arameiros, leaving this stretch reserved for outdoor activities, with more space for citizens to circulate safely, without noise or pollution.
