With the arrival of summer, open-air cinema is back in Lisbon (and the surrounding area) with various initiatives for all tastes and ages. From classics to animated films, not forgetting more recent hits, all you have to do is choose your favorite.
What’s more, this year, for the first time, you can watch movies on the beach. However, for those who can’t do without sand, emblematic places like the cloisters of the Igreja da Graça and the Palácio do Grilo are always options to consider. Shall we take a look at the list?
Black Cinema in unlikely places
With the arrival of good weather, Lisbon is transformed into a big open-air screen with Black Cinema proposals in unlikely places, such as the cloisters of the Igreja da Graça and the Palácio do Grilo.
There will be plenty of street food, drinks, popcorn and, of course, movies for all tastes, such as “The Grand Budapest Hotel”, “Grease”, “Before Sunrise”, “Notting Hill” and “The Lion King”, among others.

On this list of outdoor cinema initiatives, we couldn’t miss Cine Society, to accompany you on warm summer evenings.
Until October 16, the Carmo Rooftop and Doca da Marinha, next to the Tagus River, promise to be the perfect setting to watch the best movies.
From classic cinematographic works to contemporary productions, there are options for all tastes and ages, such as:

Summer Cinema at Jardim do Torel: over
Open-air movie sessions in Lisbon are a great plan for August, and now there’s one more place with free admission.
Jardim do Torel is hosting Cinema no Verão, transforming itself into a movie theater with free screenings every Friday and Saturday, always at 9pm.
The films include classics such as “The Lucky One”, “Groundhog Day” and “Goodfellas”. Presentations take place at 8pm, with short films for families and the documentary “Pelas Pessoas Sempre”.

Cinecapitólio Rooftop: finished
Summer evenings in Lisbon take on a new charm at Cinecapitólio Rooftop. Why? Comfortable loungers, blankets for cool evenings, popcorn, drinks and a selection of excellent films make this a unique place to watch movies at €14 per person.
The selection of films combines great classics with recent hits, guaranteeing an immersive experience with excellent projections and high-definition sound transmitted through headphones.

From June 26 to July 12, CineConchas is back at Quinta das Conchas, in Alta de Lisboa (Lumiar).
Organized by Centro Social da Musgueira, in partnership with EGEAC.EM, you can watch films outdoors in one of Lisbon’s most beautiful green spaces.
If you want to include this event in your cultural agenda, you should know that it takes place every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, always at 21h45. The program is diverse.

Black Cat Cinema brings Portugal’s first beach movie experience with open-air screenings at the Bicho d’Água space on São João da Caparica beach.
