Lisbon’s newest cycle path is called Ciclovia Ribeirinha Oriental, it was inaugurated on October 17 (2024) and continues the project that makes a continuous connection from Tejo-Trancão Park to Praça do Comércio.
The missing kilometer
The most recent section of Lisbon’s cycle path, which is just over a kilometer long, connects the Parque Ribeirinho Oriental, in Marvila, to the Alameda dos Oceanos, in Parque das Nações, thus concluding a new phase in the total distance of this route, which is already 12 kilometers long.
According to the deputy mayor of Lisbon, Filipe Anacoreta Correia, by the end of the first quarter of 2025 the entire cycle path between Algés and Parque Tejo will be completed.
With these additional 90 kilometers, the city will have a total of 263 kilometers in safe cycle paths alone , and as this project progresses, so will the number of docks with bikes from the GIRA network, which you can now also find in Marvila, in Praça David Leandro da Silva, as well as next to Parque Ribeirinho Oriental, in front of the luxury Prata Riverside Village developments.
The Ciclovia Ribeirinha Oriental is just one more reason to visit this increasingly renovated area of Lisbon, which even has one of the most spectacular playgrounds in the capital, where we’re sure the little ones will have a great time.
Not far from here you’ll also find 8 Marvila, a multicultural space full of activities and gastronomy that will please both the grown-ups and the little ones.
