Now, no one frowns at the mention of nachos, guacamole, pico de gallo, tacos, quesadillas and other delicacies with more or less chillies on the menu , so we’ve created a guide to the best Mexican restaurants in Lisbon, the kind you really have to (re)discover.
Table Of Contents
El Santo
El Santo is in Lisbon’s Príncipe Real neighborhood and is one of the newest Mexican restaurants in the city.
Our last meal in this beautiful and friendly restaurant culminated in a menu with all the best, from which we highlight the authenticity of Mexican cuisine, always very caliente and colorful.
As a starter, we had nachos with guacamole and Mexican queso salsa; a tomato quesadilla, queso crema and hutlacoche; and as a main course we were given a choice of two tacos: either chicken or pork. We tried both, of course, and they were absolutely sinful.
Finally, the traditional dessert of churros con dolce de leche, Nham nham!!!
Address: Pátio do Tijolo 61 (Príncipe Real)
Opening hours: every day, from Sunday to Wednesday, from 12 noon to midnight; and from Thursday to Saturday, from 12 noon to 1 a.m.
Reservations: menu at Fever
Taqueria do Chiado
Finding a good place to eat in the Chiado area is no easy task! There are so many places to choose from that it all depends on what you’re in the mood for at the time.
And if you’re in the mood for some of the most incredible and delicious Mexican delicacies, then you have to choose Taqueria do Chiado which, as the name suggests, specializes in tacos of all fillings.
But don’t think it’s just this traditional dish! There you’ll also find quesadillas and tostaditas, as well as this menu for two, with everything you’re entitled to.
Address: Rua da Trindade 36C (Chiado)
Opening hours: Sunday to Wednesday, from 12 noon to midnight; Thursday to Saturday, from 12 noon to 1 a.m.
Menu suggestion for two: at Fever
Pepe Taco
At Pepe Taco, located in Parque das Nações, between the Vasco da Gama Tower and the Altice Arena, it’s the tortillas that make all the difference.
Wheat or corn, they’re crunchy and you can try some of the tastiest Mexican fillings in town, with prices ranging from €2.50 to €3.50.
Then there are the traditional burritos, Tex-Mex nachos and even quesadillas, delicacies that are always ready to go with a cold beer or a good selection of cocktails.
As for the atmosphere, Pepe Taco is one of the most relaxed Mexican restaurants, a real invitation to get together with friends or family, who will find the service here very friendly and helpful.
Address: Rua da Pimenta 65 (Parque das Nações)
Opening hours: every day from 12pm to 11pm
Mex Factory
One of the hottest Mexican restaurants in the city is located at the Lx Factory in Alcântara.
It offers the ideal “recipe” for memorable meals and moments, on nights that promise plenty of entertainment while you enjoy a relaxed experience of the intense flavors of this North American culture.
Oh, and don’t forget to enter the boxing ring, for real fights about who can eat the most tacos.

El Cabron
El Cabron arrived in Lisbon at the beginning of summer 2018 and quickly became one of the city’s most popular Mexican restaurants.
Located in the Santos neighborhood, El Cabron has a dozen tacos, five burritos and many other specialties from that country, such as totopos, pico de gallo, nachos or the Levanta Muertos soup, which is, of course, very spicy.
To drink, tequila and marguerita are a must, but they also serve other cocktails (ask for them on the menu), Mexican beer and other options.
The atmosphere is always relaxed and the service very friendly and helpful.
Address: Largo de Santos 5 (Santos)
Opening hours: Sunday to Thursday, from 12.30pm to 3pm and from 7pm to 11pm; Fridays and Saturdays, from 12.30pm to 3pm and from 7pm to 1am.

At Mames Wey
The Mexican food restaurant chain has only just “landed” in Portugal and already has three locations in Lisbon, one of them on the other side of the Tagus, in Almada.
The first units opened in Entrecampos and Campo de Ourique, where they are already delighting food lovers.
Highlights include Tacos Pastor, Cochinita Pibil, Pulled Pork, Carnitas, Chilorio, Birria de res, among many other delicacies, which can be the subject of incredible promotions at any time.
These restaurants also stand out for their decoration with red neon lights, black walls, sombreros and chillies, which transport customers to a real taqueria in Mexico.
Address: Avenidas das Forças Armadas 51D (Entrecampos); Rua da Infantaria 16, 2A (Campo de Ourique); Avenida Dom Nuno Álvares Pereira 8 (Almada)
Opening hours: every day, from 12pm to 11pm (Tacos Happy Hour from 4pm to 10pm)
Guacamole – Gourmet Mexican Grill
After the shopping centers, the Guacamole group opened its first street restaurant, in one of Lisbon’s most fashionable places, the 8 Building, in Cais do Sodré.
The recipe for success is the same: burritos and tacos (to choose from), totopos, tortilla chips, salads and more, but now in a more attractive space, with a terrace and a store selling Mexican products.
And you certainly won’t go thirsty either. As well as 12 types of tequila and eight varieties of mezcal, there are also 1001 cocktails based on these drinks, such as the Ponderosa, La Pantera Rosa or the Cumberita.
Address: Rua da Moeda 2 (Cais do Sodré)
Opening hours: every day from 11 a.m. to midnight; Fridays and Saturdays from midnight to 2 a.m., but only for drinks and appetizers

Coyo Taco
Barack Obama brought international fame to this chain of Mexican restaurants when he walked past one and said
I hear these are the best tacos around.”
After Miami (USA), Panama and the Dominican Republic, the group arrived in Lisbon (through Multifood), where it has been since November 2018.
It quickly made a name for itself with the bright blue building in the heart of Príncipe Real, but it also gained fame thanks to a very complete Mexican street food menu.
Among the tacos, we highlight the Pollo Al Carbon (chicken, cheese and pico de gallo), the Al Pastor (pork, pineapple and onion), and the Carnitas de pato (confit duck, michoacan style, salsa serrano, onion, cheese and coriander), but there’s no shortage of tortillas and quesadillas either.
And what do you drink there? Margaritas, of course!
Address: Rua Dom Pedro V 65 (Príncipe Real)
Opening hours: Sunday to Thursday, from 12 noon to midnight; Fridays and Saturdays, from 12 noon to 1 a.m.

Boca Linda
The new Boca Linda restaurant, located in the heart of Bairro de Santos, brings Mexico’s best-kept secrets to Lisbon for the first time and promises to represent the true Mexican soul through a cuisine full of flavors, aromas and colors.
The first thing to note about this restaurant is that it’s new to Lisbon: Mexican brunch, which is said to be unlike anything else, so no pancakes!
In addition to this, and using recipes passed down from his grandmother, Alex and his cousin, Chef Marco Margain, present a set of gastronomic suggestions full of aromas, textures, colors and flavors, with dishes typical of the Mexican routine, including traditional tacos and quesadillas, ceviches, tostadas and ensaladas.
