Alburrica River Beach in Barreiro
Alburrica, in the Barreiro is one of the river beaches near Lisbon, with fine, clear sand, where you can see three mills traditional windmills, which bear witness to the milling past of this area of Barreiro: the Gigante windmill, the Nascente windmill and the Poente windmill.
As well as being very clean, is equipped with showers, a maintenance circuit, a volleyball court, a spider for children to play on and a parking lot in the surrounding area.

River Beach of Alamal, in Gavião
The scenery alone makes the narrow, winding road that leads there worthwhile.
The surrounding vegetation, but above all the Castelo de Belver, on the other side of the Tejo, at the top of the slope, invite you to enjoy the views before taking a dip.
Although very popular in the warmer months, the long sandy beach (compared to other river beaches) and the grassy areas have room for everyone .
If you go there, don’t miss the wooden walkway along the river.

Rosário Beach in Moita
From Lisbon, in about 45 minutes (if the traffic helps) you can reach this river beach on the Tagus, in the municipality of Moita.
With about a kilometer of sand, it has beach facilities, a summer library, showers, a picnic area and a children’s playground.
Next to the river, there is also a restaurant – Baía Tejo – with good views and a menu of tempting dishes.

Olhos de Água river beach in Alcanena
This river beach owes its name to the source of the Alviela river, which rises to the surface a few meters higher up with clear, fresh waters.
Although it’s a delight for kids and adults alike, it’s particularly popular with youngsters because here they can stand up and see the bottom.
It is part of a pleasant leisure area, with picnic areas, a children’s playground and even a campsite.
Other must-see attractions in the vicinity are the Centro de Ciência Viva do Alviela and the Gruta da Canada, inhabited by thousands and thousands of bats.

Moinhos Beach in Alcochete
The Tagus river and a relatively long stretch of sand make this beach one of the most popular places in Alcochete during the summer.
It owes its name to the windmills (now deactivated) that exist in the area, helping to create a very different scenery from the sea beaches.
In recent years, it has become well known among wind sports enthusiasts, such as kitesurfing, and has even gained aresorton the outskirts with an infinity pool and everything.

Gameiro River Beach in Mora
There’s no one who doesn’t know or hasn’t heard of the Fluviário de Mora, but few know that, right next door, there’s also a pleasant river beach that takes advantage of the waters of the Rio Raia.
We’re talking about Açude do Gameiro where, in addition to diving, you can also picnic, discover the tree climbing circuit, stroll along the wooden walkway and visit the Environmental Interpretation Center.
Anyone who wants to stay here has a campsite at their disposal.

Valada Beach, in Cartaxo
The riverside town of Valada, in the municipality of Cartaxo, in the heart of the Ribatejo, offers this small but pleasant river beach on the right bank of the Tagus.
It has a picnic area with grills, a children’s playground, a pier and a maintenance circuit.
On the other side of the river is the fishing village of Escaroupim, created in the mid-1930s by fishermen from Praia da Vieira (Marinha Grande), who came seasonally (in winter) to fish in the Tagus.

River Beach of Aldeia do Mato, in Abrantes
Another river beach on the Castelo de Bode reservoir where the blue waters of the Zêzere contrast with the green of the surrounding pine trees.
Located in the municipality of Abrantes, it is home to a Recreational and Leisure Nautical Park with floating pools, a dock, water sports equipment and a bar.
Those who want to can sleep by the reservoir in one of the wooden bungalows on site. About six kilometers away, in the village of Martinchel, there is also a campsite.

Praia Doce, in Salvaterra de Magos
Located between the town of Salvaterra de Magos and the fishing village of Escaroupim, 70 kilometers from Lisbon, is a quiet beach, surrounded by vegetation growing on the banks of the Tagus.
It has a picnic area, tables, toilets and a sandy beach.
Renovated in 2015, is also known by the locals as “Praia dos Tesos”.

Blue Lake in Ferreira do Zêzere
Officially it’s called Praia Fluvial da Castanheira, but everyone knows it as Lago Azul (Blue Lake ), thanks to the inn of the same name next door.
In the middle of Castelo de Bode Dam, there is a floating platform with two pools (one for adults and one for children) that invites you to take a dip in the waters of the River Zêzere.
This area is also popular with wakeboardingenthusiasts, but if you’re looking for something quieter, you can always take a seagull ride or go hiking on the trails that surround the dam.
