Cachupa is a dish that is served very hot, both in terms of temperature and spiciness, so it is on colder days that this meal really tastes best.
With “that” special touch, and a pinch of unconditional love for the Earth, these were the “ingredients” we went looking for in the best cachupas in town.

Tambarina
It is located in Rua do Poço dos Negros and offers three varieties of cachupa: meat, fish or special.
The restaurant is the closest thing to a Cape Verdean tavern, simple and very satisfying in terms of the portions of this African delicacy. And if you go between Wednesday and Sunday, get ready to hear some of the best Cape Verdean rhythms, with live music.

Aunt Alice’s Cachupa
There’s no mistaking it, the name of the restaurant is Cachupa da Tia Alice and that’s why it’ s the house’s specialty.

Near the Marquês de Pombal, the Associação Caboverdeana is the ideal place to eat your first cachupa if you’ve never tried it before.

Fox Coffee – The King of Cachupa
It calls itself “The King of Cachupa” and is one of Lisbon’s newest specialty restaurants .
In this sense, it is also the most pleasant restaurant to look at, with a very modern and comfortable appearance. It doesn’t have the typical look of Cape Verdean cuisine, it’s true, but it’s been said that the best cachupa is served here.

Naughty Marquis
One of the most recent cachupa tastings we did was at Malandro do Marquês, where we found both Cachupa Rica and Cachupa Refogada, with fried egg and Cape Verde sausage (pictured below), and they are both delicious.
As the name suggests, this place is very close to the Marquês de Pombal and at lunchtime it has a very interesting €10 menu, which includes a dish, drink, soup or dessert, and coffee. And cachupa is usually one of the daily options.
Address: Rua Camilo Castelo Branco 23B (Marquês de Pombal)
