On October 4 and 5, MAAT—the Museum of Art, Architecture, and Technology— will open its doors free of charge and debut the latest exhibitions by Joana Vasconcelos, Pedro Cabrita Reis, and João Pimenta Gomes.
Ten years after opening in the former Central Tejo building, MAAT is celebrating its first decade with two days of free admission and a program that combines new exhibitions, workshops, performances, and talks.
On Sunday, October 4, and Monday, October 5, the museum will be filled with free activities, all subject to capacity andrequiring same-day registration at the MAAT Centralticket office.
What to do on both days

The big highlight of this celebration is the variety of exhibitions on view— including several premieres—throughout the event:
- VENUS – Valentino Garavani Through the Eyes of Joana Vasconcelos (at the MAAT Gallery)
- “With a Heart Free of Worries” by Pedro Cabrita Reis (at the MAAT Gallery)
- New Age and Exhibiting, Publishing: MAAT in Print (2016–2026) by João Pimenta Gomes
- Turn Around. A Look at the EDP Foundation Art Collection (at MAAT Central)
- “Mais Alto” by Margarida Correia (at MAAT Central)
- Fábrica da Eletricidade, a space that preserves the industrial heritage of the former Central Tejo power plant.
In addition to the exhibitions
The program goes far beyond guided tours. On Sunday, Teatro Praga will lead a creative workshop in the MAAT Central Screening Room, inspired by the EDP Foundation’s collection, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
That same afternoon, the Setúbal Voz Association will present the opera performance *Vesti la Giubba*, part of Pedro Cabrita Reis’s exhibition, with sessions at 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
There is also a secret tour for young people over 12 and adults (4:00 p.m.), a science workshop on electromagnetism for children (4:00 p.m.) , and a moving conversation with João Pinharanda and Maestro Jorge Salgueiro (5:00 p.m.).

On the October 5 holiday, the day begins early with a guided meditation session led by Mário Rodrigues, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and a tactile tour of the VENUS exhibition for people who are blind or have low vision at 10:00 a.m.
In the afternoon, there will be a wool embroideryworkshop associated with Joana Vasconcelos’s exhibition (4:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.) , and the Entre Margens project will take over Praça do Carvão with guided tours, writing exercises, sharing sessions, and music, also from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Outside, the MAAT Central plaza will host a charity market from October 3 to 5, featuring partner organizations of the EDP Foundation—Semear, Café Joyeux, Crescer, and Associação Vale de Acór/Gelados Fratellini—as well as a booth selling publications from MAAT and the EDP Foundation.
