An event now in its sixth edition

“Sunset at the Castle” is back for the sixth consecutive year, once again offering one of the best views of the city in a free event that combines music with the capital’s most iconic sunset.
Over the course of five Saturdays in August, one of the country’s most visited monuments will host concerts and DJ sets, with free admission subject to venue capacity.
The musical program
The series kicks off on August 1 with a DJ set by Umafricana, who blends African rhythms with pop, R&B, Latin influences, and contemporary sounds. Next up, on August 8, is Violet, one of the founders of Rádio Quântica, with a style that combines techno, acid house, and bass.
On August 15, it’s DJ Fellaz’s turn— he previously entertained the crowd at the castle during the 2025 edition. He’s been passionate about hip-hop culture since the 2000s and is known for his unique remixes and energetic vinyl-based sets.
After the DJ sets, it’s time for the concerts: on August 22, the Lisbon-based band Salamandra —formed in 2022 by three musicians with a background in jazz but blending electronic and hip-hop—takes the stage . This series concludes on August 29 with Coletivo Gira, a movement created by immigrant women in Portugal that promotes Afro-Brazilian culture and gender equality through samba.
When will it take place?
The concerts and DJ sets at Sunset at the Castle take place every Saturday in August, always starting at 7 p.m.
Since admission is free but subject to space availability, it’s worth arriving a little early to secure a spot.
A castle with centuries of history

Although the exact date of its construction is still unknown due to a lack of historical information, São Jorge Castle is one of Lisbon’s oldest monuments.
Its current structure, with all its medieval features (including walls and towers), began to take shape in the 10th century, but its oldest fortifications date back to the 7th century B.C.
