The big wave show is back in Nazaré! After opening the window for the surfing season at Praia do Norte a few weeks ago , the first swell appeared with almost perfect conditions for tow-in surfing.
It happened on Wednesday, December 3rd (2025) and, as always, brought a crowd to the promontory next to the Fort of São Miguel Arcanjo (aka the Nazaré lighthouse) to see this giant spectacle of nature.
This day definitely marked the official opening of the period of colossal waves, once again attracting the best-known elite surfers for another session of incredible tow-in surfing.
The best maneuvers… and tense moments
As always, there were moments for everything, from some of the best surfing maneuvers on this beach, to some tense moments, which happen whenever a surfer isn’t rescued on the first try (there are videos below).
The photos and videos of this day are, as almost every time there is one of these big wave sessions at Praia do Norte, of remarkable intensity, showing all the mastery and courage of these surfers to ride the biggest waves on the planet.
One thing’s for sure, the “Nazaré Cannon” has “fired” again and now we’re showing you some of the best images from this epic day.
