No passado mês de fevereiro, no dia 24, a depressão Louis trouxe até à Nazaré, a meca das ondas gigantes, um dos mais vertiginosos swells da temporada de ondas grandes, que normalmente abre janela desde 1 de novembro até ao fim de março. Será que foi desta que a Nazaré viu surfada a onda de 30 metros?
E foi numa dessas sessões que foi surfada esta enorme parede de água, já considerada por muitos especialistas como potencial recorde mundial da maior onda surfada desde que existe este registo.
Lucas Chumbo à espera de um recorde do mundo
Desde o momento que estas ondas são surfadas e registadas em câmaras, até à sua medição, o registo oficial do seu tamanho pode demorar algum tempo até ser divulgado.
É durante este período de tempo que o surfista brasileiro Lucas “Chumbo” Chianca, vencedor do último Big Wave Challenge juntamente com o seu colega de prova Pedro Scooby, estará mais ansioso, por saber se conseguiu ou não bater um recorde que todos querem ter nesta praia, a onda perfeita dos 100 pés, os famosos 30 metros.
Segundo o próprio, em declarações ao canal de Instagram Gigantes da Nazaré, esta foi uma das suas maiores ondas da sua vida, afirmando mesmo que terá os 30 metros com que todos os surfistas sonham.
Ian Cosenza, também surfista de ondas grandes, foi um dos intervenientes deste feito magnífico, visto ter sido ele a pilotar a mota de água que colocou Lucas Chumbo na posição ideal para apanhar aquela que poder ser a maior onda alguma vez surfada em todo o mundo.
Sebastian Steudtner com recorde em stand by
Recordamos que o atual detentor do recorde mundial do Guiness com a maior onda surfada do mundo, de 26,21 metros, quase dois metros a mais que o antigo recorde de Rodrigo Koxa, é o alemão Sebastian Steudtner, feito conseguido no dia 29 de outubro de 2020.
Segundo o atleta,
Lembro-me bem deste dia especial. Foi um dia normal, primeiro dia da temporada, e a energia do oceano estava fantástica. Não há outro sítio como este. Quero destacar que se acreditarmos nos nossos sonhos, conseguimos. E aqui estou eu agora.”
Agora resta-nos esperar que a onda de Lucas Chumbo seja oficialmente medida e, por fim, revelada a sua dimensão… e se sempre foi alcançado o sonho dos 30 metros.
Se nunca foste à Nazaré assistir a este espetáculo único, é bem possível que entre os dias 6 e 9 de março existam condições para a ocorrência de ondas grandes na Praia do Norte, segundo o site Surf Forecast.
