There’s a new fish restaurant in Lisbon: it’s called FYSH and on the menu you’ll find options for all tastes... and even for those looking for meat (yes, there are two tenderloins on the menu that look really worth it!).
Dedicated to the best flavors that the sea can bring to the table, at FYSH the focus is on the ocean and a selection of fresh fish and seafood that promises to delight all lovers of this type of cuisine.
One of Lisbon’s most recent restaurants, under the command of Chef Pedro Quintas, is in Saldanha, on Avenida Praia da Vitória, where its “brother” on the ground, BYF, is also located , specializing more in meat.
A contemporary approach
At FYSH you’ll find an innovative approach to the classics of Portuguese gastronomy, with a modern twist that promises to surprise everyone, from the starters to the desserts and cocktails.
At the entrance, you’ll be greeted by a traditional fish stall which reinforces the restaurant’s commitment to quality and freshness, especially fish and shellfish, as well as many other delicacies such as oysters, carpaccios and ceviches.
There’s plenty to choose from on the menu, as well as the freedom to choose your favorite side dishes, including roe açorda, grilled vegetables, cockle rice or coriander rice, to name but a few.
As for the protagonists of the house, the fish can be prepared to your liking, in the most classic way (fish in bread or fish in salt), or traditionally (grilled, in the oven or on the grill); the shellfish (lobster or lobster), duly preserved in the aquariums, can be cooked in white, grilled or Basque style, where the sauce plays a leading role.
The house specialties
We already know who the main characters are, now let’s find out what FYSH’s specialties are.
The starters include the Ovos Rotos with Carabineiro and Pata Negra (22€); the Lobster César Salad (24€); and the innovative Pastel de Nata de Bacalhau (3€).
As for the main courses, all the options seem very tempting, but FYSH recommends the Grilled Squid with Cockle Rice (22€, in the main photo); the Fish prepared in bread, salted or grilled (on request); and, of course, the Basque Lobster (70€/kg).
Finally, the desserts include the Leite Creme (5€) and the Crunchy Chocolate Mousse (5€), as well as other delights.
FYSH can accommodate 62 diners, between the main dining room and a 12-seat terrace, and also has a small private room for events, such as business lunches or even birthday dinners.
According to the press release we received, there will soon be a surprise, the “Chef’s Freestyle”, which consists of a lunchtime experience in which the highlight will be the freshest fish of the day, made into unique dishes with ingredients selected daily.
It will be in one of these situations that we want to try FYSH, to tell you if this restaurant is really cool.
