With a future location in the Moscavide/Parque das Nações area, the Oriente Green Campus is one of the most auspicious city projects the city of Lisbon has seen in recent times. It stands out for being innovative and for its high sustainability standards, being the first building in Lisbon to receive LEED Platinum and WELL Platinum certificates.
Lisbon’s new business campus has a modern design and is highly functional, a must for a city that wants to be increasingly efficient and agile in order to meet the demands of its communities’ daily lives.
Where is it and what will it be used for?
The Oriente Green Campus is being developed next to the Oriente Multipurpose Pavilion, next to the PSP Metropolitan Command and the Lidl supermarket in Moscavide, and relatively close to the IC2, the A1 and Segunda Circular, the Vasco da Gama Bridge and Lisbon Airport.
It will occupy a building that had never been finished, now acquired by Orion Capital Managers, and transformed into a multifunctional space with 41,000m² of indoor space and 19,000m² of outdoor space.
This new space will mainly be used to house offices for companies interested in “moving” their business to Lisbon, offering a wide range of services and amenities, from a fully equipped gym, auditorium , catering area , event spaces on the terrace, a landscaped rooftop, and hundreds of parking spaces for bicycles and vehicles, including electric cars.
The new Lisbon campus is aimed at companies, so it offers offices of different sizes ranging from 1,600m² to 14,000m² per floor, thus adapting to the needs of its new tenants.
Where does the Oriente Green Campus stand out?
Above all for its architecture and respect for the environment. In addition to the sustainability and well-being certifications already mentioned, this project incorporates natural ventilation, efficient energy systems and large green areas, with the highlight being the fact that 90% of the materials used in its original construction were reused, greatly reducing its carbon footprint.
In terms of the architecture implemented, this campus is a benchmark in bioclimatic architecture, with its glazed surfaces, landscaped courtyards and areas at the top of the building capable of offering various indoor and outdoor environments.
As for the façade, the pattern of traditional Portuguese tiles in blue and white was chosen, creating a link between the modern and the local culture.
Oriente Green Campus in numbers
If you’re still not impressed by everything you already know about Lisbon’s new campus, perhaps these figures will help you understand the scale of the project even better:
- 1,600m2 to 14,000m2of flexibility in the occupation of each floor
- 19,000m2of landscaped outdoor spaces: interior gardens, terraces and rooftops overlooking the river
- 160 bicycle parking spaces
- 4 showers
- 176 lockers
- 1450 parking spaces with chargers for electric vehicles
- 3 independent receptions, allowing flexible access to the outside
- 9 panoramic elevators and 3 above-ground service elevators
- Restaurant area, gym, auditorium and e-commerce delivery area
The Oriente Green Campus promises to be the benchmark for future sustainable development projects in the city, combining ecological architecture in a modern space.
As far as we can tell, and given that 40% will already be occupied by European University offices and laboratories when it opens (which will be soon), it shouldn’t be long before the whole building is fully operational.
