Avenida Almirante Reis may well be one of our favorites, from one end to the other, from Areeiro to Praça Martim Moniz.
The Lisbon City Council has released a video model showing how this road will look in 2026.
This road is one of Lisbon’s main arteries, multifaceted and reflecting the city’s history, multiculturalism and urban challenges.
It’s about 2.8 km long, from Martim Moniz to Praça Francisco Sá Carneiro (Areeiro), crossing the parishes of Santa Maria Maior, Arroios and Areeiro , playing a crucial role in the urban and road dynamics of the capital, being a link between the historic center and the outlying areas.
The long-awaited redevelopment
Currently, Avenida Almirante Reis is at the center of an “integrated project” promoted by Lisbon City Council, the aim of which is to upgrade it, especially the main roads, cycle paths and side walks.
The intention will also be to improve environmental quality, pedestrian accessibility, safety and the integration of different modes of mobility.
Lisbon City Council has just released a video model showing what the road could look like from 2026:
