Manteigaria has just opened its newest bakery at Praça D. Pedro IV, in Rossio, in downtown Lisbon. So get ready for warm, crispy, and very Portuguese pastéis de nata, right in the heart of the capital.
If you often pass through Rossio, you’ve probably already heard the unmistakable sound of the Manteigaria’s bell: it’s a sign that pastéis de nata are coming out of the oven.
Located on Praça D. Pedro IV, the new location promises to attract both Lisboners looking for a midday break and the thousands of tourists who stroll through Baixa.
Artisanal production in full view of everyone
The concept that more and more pastel de nata brands are embracing (and rightly so) is also present in the new store: those who enter the new Rossio bakery won’t just be eating; they’ll be watching the entire process, with the artisanal production taking place in full view of customers, ensuring the transparency and freshness of a pastel de nata that’s meant to be served warm, with a crispy crust and the custard just right.

There are now 13 stores in Greater Lisbon
With this opening, Manteigaria now has thirteen bakeries in Greater Lisbon, adding Rossio to such well-known locations as Chiado, Rua Augusta, Belém, and Campo de Ourique.
The brand is also continuing its expansion northward, with stores in Porto and Braga, and taking the tradition beyond borders, with a presence in cities such as Paris, Madrid, Macau, and Hong Kong.
