According to a study by Italki, an online platform for learning languages, Lisbon is in the world’s top cities for brunches.
This meal is much more than a simple breakfast, and in Lisbon too there are some very good ones. A brunch is a social experience that brings friends and family together around a table – preferably a large one full of sweet treats – to celebrate not only the most traditional flavors but also to try new foods.
Just to see how important this new category is in people’s daily lives, on Instagram and TikTok alone the hashtag #brunch has been used almost 40 million times, with people sharing the places they like best, as well as the food they were tasting at the time.
And in Lisbon there’s so much on offer, from self-service brunches and away from the city center, to brunches with access to the pool, and, of course, brunches more cheap in the city.
How did Lisbon get into this position?
With so many offers of places in Lisbon where you can enjoy a good brunch, the challenge is to decide where to go first.
This is precisely what Italki thought when it carried out this study, in which it scored and ranked more than 30 cities around the world based on factors such as:
- number of places to try brunch per 10,000 inhabitants;
- average cost of a meal for two;
- number of people searching for brunch places in the city, per month, on Google.
The Italki survey also highlighted the most popular restaurants serving the best brunches, but for that you already know our list with the best restaurants for brunch in Lisbon, “proven” and approved by Secret Lisbon.
