The Cais do Sodré station will be closed to the public from August 8 through 26 due to railway signaling work required for the construction of the future Circular Line.
The station will reopen on August 27, during which time the Green Line will operate only between Telheiras and Baixa-Chiado, in both directions.
Passengers who normally travel through Cais do Sodré will have alternatives available on both the metro and Carris buses.
Available transportation alternatives
On the metro, the Terreiro do Paço station (Blue Line) is the main alternative for accessing the riverside area.
On the Carris bus network, the available routes are as follows:
- Martim Moniz – Cais do Sodré: lines 760 and 208 (early morning)
- Praça do Comércio/Terreiro do Paço – Cais do Sodré: lines 728, 735, 781, 782, 206 (early morning), and 210 (early morning)
- Praça da Figueira – Cais do Sodré/Corpo Santo: lines 15E, 25E, and 774 (nighttime and weekends)
- Rossio – Cais do Sodré: lines 732, 736 (night) and 207 (early morning)
- Chiado – Cais do Sodré: Line 758
The future Circular Line
The work is part of the preparations for the future Circular Line, which is scheduled to begin operating in the first quarter of 2027.
The new line, which will connect Rato to Cais do Sodré, will add more than two kilometers to the current network, as well as two new stations: Estrela and Santos, linking the existing Yellow and Green lines and creating a circular loop in central Lisbon.
