Traveling to new places is one of life’s greatest pleasures, and now that we can travel, these are just a few of our suggestions.
Nothing stops us from dreaming of a trip abroad, or even within Portugal.
In this sense, our proposal takes you on a trip to some of the best luxury places around the world, from the bird boxes overlooking the Norwegian fjords, to the luxurious yurts at the top of the Madeiran slopes, or even to the most romantic corners of Coimbra and Gerês. Buckle up and let’s go!
1 – The synonym for Love is at the Quinta das Lágrimas Hotel
This refuge in Coimbra is ideal for a romantic mini-vacation, because of the abundance of details relating to the great love story that took place there, between Dom Pedro and Inês de Castro.
The Quinta das Lágrimas Hotel is an idyllic place where you’ll find peace, harmony and a garden, the Jardim dos Amores, where you can spend the whole day. You can also enjoy the outdoor swimming pool and the creative cuisine by Chef Vítor Dias.
2 – Star gazing in Gerês
This is no ordinary trip! This adventure will take you to see the most spectacular starry sky in Gerês, in a tent(Glamping) and in a place where Nature will be your main companion.
You just have to choose whether you want to stay there for 1, 2, 3 or 4 nights. As for the rest, make the most of it. You deserve it!
3 – Sleeps under banana trees in a yurt on the island of Madeira
Our Madeira is stunning! Almost completely isolated in the Atlantic, off the coast of Portugal and Morocco, the island of Madeira is the perfect place to get away for a mini-vacation.
If you’re traveling to Madeira, Canto das Fontes is the place we’re highlighting here. It’s on a steep hillside overlooking the beautiful blue ocean and is made up of very comfortable tents and yurts.
4 – The beautiful bird box cabins overlooking the Norwegian fjords
These incredible little “bird boxes” are perched on the mountains and offer breathtaking views of Norway’s most beautiful landscapes.
To visit during the winter, these idyllic places are perfect for retreating and escaping the cold, with incredible views.
From the little “bird box” you can enjoy the beauty of the Norwegian fjords, and you don’t even have to get out of bed to do it.
5 – A floating spa hotel under the Northern Lights in Swedish Lapland
The Arctic Bath Hotel and Spa is as spectacular as it sounds. It’s in a very cold place, literally 900 km north of Stockholm.
This hotel spa floats on Lake Lule and, in winter, the ice freezes so that it is beautifully suspended in the ice.
In between being massaged and pampered, you can take a dip in the Arctic, which is kept at 4 degrees Celsius, and enjoy phenomenal views.
6 – Barrel-shaped rooms in a Mexican tequila distillery
Matices Hotel De Barricas is a tequila distillery that is still in operation, where you can relax in its own Jacuzzi among the incredible blue agave plants.
The barrel-shaped rooms are equipped with everything you’d expect to find in a luxury hotel and there’s even an amazing bar and restaurant on site.
If you’re a fan of tequila and have always dreamed of traveling to Mexico, this place is definitely for you.
7 – Fantastic hobbit “caves” in rural Wales
Bilbo Baggins would be jealous of anyone staying in one of these luxurious hobbit “caves”. As far as we remember from “Lord of the Rings”, the movie version had a pantry full of food, but no hot tub like these.
The “caves” of hobbit caves are near the picturesque Welsh town of Rhayader and not far from the Cambrian Mountains, with phenomenal views of the lush Welsh countryside.
8 – Bubble houses with private pools in Costa Rica
This place is the real stuff that dreams are made of. It’s perfect for a romantic getaway, with a private pool and a huge bathtub.
It offers total privacy, but with incredible views of your own bubble paradise. Just a four-minute walk from the hotel is a beautiful sandy beach where you can sunbathe and let all your worries disappear.
9 – Floating along the coast of France in a luxurious cocoon
The Athanea is stationed in Brittany and is inspired by the James Bond film “007 – Agent Irresistible”, featuring an incredible floating cocoon.
The Athanea has zero impact on the environment and only releases clean water into the ocean. It is solar-powered and built from recycled materials.
It is said to be unsinkable and totally autonomous. Luxury abounds in this pod of sorts, with an incredible balcony to relax on and a transparent base inside, so you can watch the fish swim by while you enjoy your breakfast.
10 – Floating eco-villas in Bora Bora
How about booking the best of both worlds, a cruise and a beach vacation?
What seemed like a dream came true in Bora Bora, where the eLYT company has started chartering small ecological boats that will allow you to sail around these wonderful islands and, whenever you want, swim to the beach to relax.
