Art, multiplicity and transition: through these three premises, there are four artists transforming the city with a collective mural that “breathes” Lisbon, this time in the creative and multicultural neighborhood of LX Factory.
This is already considered a truly unique artistic intervention, which has brought together street artists Wasted Rita, Tamara Alves, Mar and Ram in a vibrant and plural collage that will reflect the dynamism and multiplicity of the space and the city itself.
It’s Lisbon in a mural
The new collective mural is intended to be a symbol of the current fragmented and metamorphosing identity of this space in the Alcântara neighborhood, while also reflecting the state of the city of Lisbon itself, which continues to undergo constant transformation and renewal.
In what we see as another experimental “laboratory” of definitions of what our capital is today, this artwork is a mix of styles, emotions and visions, shared by each of these four nationally renowned artists, who manage to maintain a visual dialog between all the blocks of this huge outdoor work.
What you’ll see in each of the 4 blocks
Each of the four artists invited to carry out this project has their own style and that’s exactly what they were asked to do, to apply it, but in the end to give a more general reading of how we can define Lisbon today.
The artist from Maia, Wasted Rita, interprets Lisbon with a critical, poetic and irreverent eye; the creator from the Algarve, Tamara Alves, explores the organic ruptures between nature and concrete; the Lisbon artist Mar evokes vulnerability and the organic cycle of life through continuous metamorphosis; and the Sintra artist Ram draws chaos, fragmentation and rebirth, giving form to collapse and creation.
For these artists,
Like the Lx Factory, this mural is a skin in constant mutation, open to divergent voices, styles and perspectives that, together, tell a common narrative about Lisbon and its creative spirit.”
Each of these elements has been designed to involve the visitor to this work, linking themes that are so present in everyone, such as urbanity, life and death, memory and contemporaneity.
More than a “simple” mural, this is an invitation to discover Lisbon from multiple angles, while participating in the life of the neighborhood and the constant mutations of this creative space in Lisbon.
