For admirers of astronomical phenomena, 2026 got off to a great start with the first Supermoon of the year. However, there are more events worth contemplating, such as the arrival of the February Full Moon, better known as the Snow Moon.
The Snow Moon, whose name accurately reflects the cold temperatures experienced across the country in recent days, will shine brightly on Sunday , February 1. However, its beauty can be observed even before it reaches its peak, a few days before and after.
Where does this name come from?

According to the specialized website Star Walk, February is usually the snowiest month in North America, so indigenous peoples used this name to refer to the full moon of the second month of the year.
However, the Snow Moon is not the only name given to the February full moon. For example, some tribes also called it the Hunger Moon; in Celtic culture it was known as the Ice Moon; and the Celts nicknamed it the Bud Moon.
When is the next Full Moon?
The next Full Moon will shine on March 3. To see a Supermoon, you’ll have to wait until the end of the year, as it won’t arrive until November 24!
