With Valentine’s Day approaching, Valentine’s celebrations and plans are not limited to bouquets of flowers or romantic dinners.
Two names in Lisbon’s pastry scene (and beyond) have decided to transform their icons into authentic edible “love letters.” If you’re a fan of classics, get ready: the traditional pastel de nata and the famous Grand Bolacha have taken on new shapes and flavors that you can only taste over the next few days.
The Pastel de Nata that “crowned” with passion
Strawberry Pastel de Nata from Fábrica da Nata.
Fábrica da Nata has decided to innovate where few dare: in the recipe for the pastel de nata. It did so last year, and this year it is once again offering its Strawberry Pastel de Nata throughout February in the brand’s stores in Lisbon, Porto , and Sintra.
The base remains faithful to what we know: a crispy puff pastry and the rich cream that defines the house, but now it comes with a touch of strawberry jam that transforms the taste.
For €1.60, this is an affordable and original way to mark the date, available at strategic locations such as Restauradores, Rua Augusta, Colombo, Sintra, and also on the iconic Rua de Santa Catarina in Porto.
When the cookie “turns” into a heart
Grand Bolacha at Grande Café Lisboa.
In Rossio, the refined setting of the Grand Café Lisboa serves as the stage for a visual transformation of its most Instagrammable creation: the Grand Bolacha, known for its buttery base and secret recipe, which on this date “sheds” its circular shape to take on the shape of a heart.
Available only between February 2 and 15, this limited edition is not only a visual delight, as the toppings have been selected specifically for this season, maintaining the customizable feature that made the brand famous, but with a romantic and contemporary touch.
It’s the perfect excuse for a stop for two (or solo) in the heart of the capital.
