Traveling is one of the favorite activities of kids and adults alike, whether it’s ‘within doors’ or ‘across borders’. However, it’ s not always easy to think of a destination to travel to with children. There are a number of associated challenges, particularly ensuring that the little ones don’t get bored.
Condé Nast Traveller magazine has chosen the 30 best European cities for family travel. Its list took into account different criteria, such as access to parks and other green areas, accommodation suitable for families and the quality of attractions.
For Condé Nast Traveller, there are two Portuguese cities that deserve to appear on this list, namely Lisbon (in 17th place) and Aveiro (in 22nd place). Next, we’ll show you the European top 30. But before that, let’s take a look at what they wrote about the capital.
What do they say about Lisbon?
The renowned travel publication highlighted Lisbon’s popularity, considering it an excellent city to travel to with children. For what reasons? In its argument, Condé Nast Traveller highlights several attractions, such as the Oceanarium, the Pavilion of Knowledge and São Jorge Castle.
It also suggests a stop at the Belém Tower, one of Lisbon’s most emblematic monuments, as well as a stroll through some green spaces, such as Jardim da Estrela and Jardim Parque das Nações. To finish on a high note, she recommends a trip in the cable car.
