The premiere of “Um Domingo na Avenida”, the long-awaited Chic-Nic scheduled for November 2 in Parque Eduardo VII, has been officially postponed until 2026: the decision was communicated by organizers Lohad and Associação Avenida da Liberdade, due to the bad weather alert issued by the authorities.
Being a totally open-air event focused on gastronomy and music, the organization stresses in the press release that
Good weather is an essential ingredient to guarantee the usual levels of comfort and quality for the public, artists and teams involved.”
As a result of this postponement, the organization also informs that ticket holders can request a refund or keep their ticket valid for the new date, which will be announced shortly.

8 of the best restaurants on the Avenue
The new luxury “Chic-Nic” in Lisbon is called “Um Domingo na Avenida” (A Sunday on the Avenue ) and was scheduled to open on November 2, promising to transform Parque Eduardo VII into a giant picnic with premium hampers, live music and the best that Avenida da Liberdade has to offer.
The event was scheduled to take place between 11.30am and 6pm in one of the city’s most elegant gardens, which would be the stage for the first musical “Chic-Nic” in living memory, an initiative by the same organizers of Chefs on Fire.
The first edition of the new “Um Domingo na Avenida” event would soon feature a selection of eight of the best restaurants you can find on Avenida da Liberdade, with menus yet to be revealed:
- Addiction
- Rubro
- Cervejaria Liberdade
- Mona Verde
- Selllva
- Libertà
- Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisboa
- Eleven
The idea was for each participant to reserve their basket and/or exclusive towel at one of these venues and to choose a spot in the spacious garden of Parque Eduardo VII.
Both the basket and the towel were designed to be taken home as a souvenir of this unique moment.

Live music with David Fonseca and the Symphony Orchestra
As far as musical entertainment is concerned, the highlight of the day would take place between lunchtime, from 1pm to 2pm, with a concert by David Fonseca; and later, from 4.30pm to 5.30pm, with the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, which would take to the stage to play a special repertoire focused on movie soundtracks.

Two ticket formats
This “Chic-Nic” offered two types of tickets with very different prices, depending on the type of experience you wanted to enjoy:
- Towel ticket for 50€:
- Individual access with the right to an exclusive towel and to the music concerts. Food and drink are purchased and paid for separately;
- Basket Ticket (250€):
- Access for two people which includes a Premium basket (with crockery and cutlery), an exclusive tablecloth, the eight gastronomic proposals, a bottle of wine and access to the concerts. Children up to the age of 12 can join in, no additional booking required. The gifts, basket and towel can be taken home as a souvenir.
To make things more practical, the event would have bars and a food and drink service directly on the towel, and food and drink orders could be purchased via a mobile app.
This would be a different way of experiencing Avenida da Liberdade and the garden of Parque Eduardo VII, in a community gathering that promised a lot of excitement in the center of Lisbon’s capital.
