With summer in full swing, Cascais is once again one of the most sought-after destinations near Lisbon, offering beaches, fine dining, and outdoor entertainment. We’ve put together seven suggestions for enjoying the town this August—all confirmed and in full swing.
From August 20 to 30, the Festas do Mar return to Cascais Bay, between the Visconde da Luz Garden and the Citadel, with free concerts every night. This year there’s even a third stage, dedicated to concerts for children, in addition to the well-known Cascais Stage—featuring artists such as Carlão, Diogo Piçarra, Matias Damásio, and David Fonseca —and the Super Bock Stage. On the final day, August 30, there will be the traditional procession in honor of Our Lady of the Navigators, and the festival will close with a concert by the Cascais Symphony Orchestra.
Cascais Beaches
A trip to the beaches of Cascais is a must, even if it’s just to dip your toes in the water. Less than an hour from Lisbon and accessible via a picturesque train ride on the Cascais Line, the beaches offer a variety of options, whether you want to soak up the sun, take a dip, or have a picnic on the sand.
Bosque, Casa da Guia
O Bosque is the newest venue at Casa da Guia in Cascais, ideal for late afternoons with an outdoor terrace and ocean views. It stands out for its Portuguese cuisine, with a focus on sausages and cheeses, and features events and live music every night in a completely open-air setting where, with a bit of luck, you can still spot dolphins in the distance.
Café de São Bento
Located on Rua Amarela, in the heart of the town of Cascais, Café de São Bento opened its doors in 2025 and remains in full operation this summer. Upon “ringing the bell,” guests step into an atmosphere of exclusivity and tradition, where the famous Bife à São Bento, with its generous sauces, is the star of the show—offering the same quality and ambiance as the flagship restaurant in Lisbon. The outdoor terrace is the perfect choice for warmer days, whether for a relaxed lunch or a more special dinner.
Blue Bar, Rooftop Hotel Baía
With a panoramic view of Cascais Bay , the Blue Bar, located on the rooftop of the Hotel Baía, returns this summer refreshed, with new décor and a surprising menu. The venue features live music and a lively atmosphere, making it ideal for late afternoons and warm summer nights.
For those who’d rather avoid the sand sticking to their skin, the Alberto Romano Ocean Pool, on the Cascais seawall between Duquesa Beach and Moitas Beach, is one of Portugal’s largest ocean pools—fed directly by seawater, about 50 meters long, and offering a spectacular view of Cascais Bay. Admission is completely free, but there’s usually a line in the summer, so it’s worth arriving early.
Estoril Handicraft Fair
Portugal’s oldest craft fair is in its 61st edition, taking place at Fiartil from June 26 to August 23. It brings together more than 90 booths featuring national and international artisans, traditional shops, and local cuisine, with live music every night—including evenings dedicated to fado, marches, and ranchos.
