Lisbon continues to add to its international accolades. After being named Europe’s Best Culinary Destination at the World Culinary Awards, now it’s the city’s turn to receive, for the first time, the award for Best World Heritage City.
This distinction was awarded as part of the 31st edition of the World Travel Awards, known as the ‘Oscars of Tourism’, whose ceremony was recently held in Funchal, in the Madeira archipelago. However, this wasn’t the only award Lisbon won. For the second time in a row, the city was named the World’s Best City Break Destination.
Today, Lisbon is a symbol of authenticity, excellence and modernity. The double distinction reflects the uniqueness of the city, where historical and cultural richness is combined with constant innovation,” said the mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, in a statement.
