Petiscos Amandius (new entry)

It’s near Campo Pequeno, and we tried one of our favorite “Cozidos” there, on a cozy terrace, perfect for enjoying the calm in the middle of the city.
With an emphasis on more aromatic flavors, Amandius’ Cozido à Portuguesa offers top quality beef, pork and sausages, accompanied by perfectly cooked vegetables that further enhanced the taste of the dish, which despite not having much broth, still offers traditional rice and beans.
Address: Rua Arco do Cego 77 (Campo Pequeno)
Canalha

Chef João Rodrigues’ Cozido à Portuguesa is back on Thursdays, in its more traditional version in Alcântara, for just €16.
Served as the dish of the day, between 12.30pm and 3.30pm, this Chef keeps his promise of authenticity and, as in the previous year, the proposal focuses on the traditional version, guaranteeing “all the necessary meats, sausages, vegetables, cabbages, rice and broths”, maintaining the rigor that characterizes his work and ensuring the excellent quality of the raw material through selected suppliers.
Address: Rua da Junqueira 207B (Alcântara)
Pica-Pau

This restaurant in Príncipe Real serves cozido “without inventions” and also changes the day on which it is most traditional to eat this Portuguese delicacy, moving it from the usual Thursdays to Sundays.
Pica-Pau guarantees that what arrives at the table is the authentic national recipe, “without inventions, creations or deconstructions”. The dish, which costs €16, stands out for its use of national products and regional sausages, celebrating the greatest meal of Portuguese cuisine in its purest form.
Address: Rua da Escola Politécnica 27 (Príncipe Real)
Belmiro

The experts say it’s the best Cozido à Portuguesa in Lisbon. We’ve never been there, but we’ll see for ourselves.
Served on Wednesdays at lunchtime, it has gained fame for the superior quality of the ingredients as well as the way it is prepared, and has even attracted many Portuguese public figures, especially footballers.
Of course, if you go without a reservation, you may well find yourself stuck at the door!
Address: Rua Paço da Rainha 66 (Intendente)
ÀCosta by Olivier

We’ve already been to ÀCosta to try the Executive Menu, but we’ll have to stop by the Tagus to try this rich Olivier-style Portuguese Stew.
According to what we’ve been told, it’s “tastier and more generous”, bringing together around 20 varieties of meat and sausages of protected origin, such as Barrosã rib, Ramo Grande shank from the Azores and Bísaro pork from Trás-os-Montes, accompanied by organic vegetables. It is available on Fridays and Saturdays at lunchtime for €29 per person.
Address: Avenida Infante Dom Henrique A (Doca da Marinha)
Faz Figura

Faz Figura is another of Lisbon’s classic restaurants known for its Cozido à Portuguesa, making it an excellent choice if you’re looking for this typical Portuguese dish in a more sophisticated setting with one of the best views over the city, especially of the Tagus River, just opposite Santa Apolónia station.
Cozido à Portuguesa day at Faz Figura is ideal for taking the family, on Sunday lunches , and in buffet format.

Located at the top of the Hotel Mundial, the Varanda de Lisboa restaurant serves its classic Cozido à Portuguesa every Thursday lunchtime.

Duro Restaurant

The Duro restaurant serves Cozido à Portuguesa on Sundays, a dish that is available throughout the day for 25€.
An important detail is that this Cozido à Portuguesa is served “à discretion”, which means you can repeat it as many times as you like.
Address: Rua Dom Luís I 32
Riso Restaurant

This is one of those typical neighborhood restaurants, with a window full of sweet food and pastries, but which offers a very affordable lunch menu (around €10), where the typical dishes stand out.
One of these delicacies is served on Wednesdays, Cozido à Portuguesa, which those who have tried it say is one of the best in the capital. Well, that’s one more we have to try.
Address: Avenida General Roçadas 87 (Penha de França)
Cantinho do Sol

One of the most recent surprises we had when trying Cozido à Portuguesa was at this nice restaurant in Rua de Santa Marta.
The portions are huge, as they should be, but it was the quality of the meat and sausages that filled our souls, very well accompanied by the typical cabbage, beans, rice, potatoes, turnips and carrots. It is, without a doubt, a dish full of flavor, to be tasted again and again on Tuesdays.
Address: Rua de Santa Marta 84
Visconde da Luz

Located in Cascais, this restaurant is celebrating its 49th anniversary and, to celebrate this special occasion, has prepared a tribute to one of the most emblematic dishes of Portuguese gastronomy: Cozido à Portuguesa.
This delicacy will be the main highlight of the menu in January and February, representing the restaurant’s connection to its cultural roots and the family tradition passed down through the generations.
Address: Jardim Visconde da Luz (Cascais)
Tasquinha do Lagarto

In Campolide you’ll find a very special place, with a Portuguese stew you’ll never forget.
It’s called Tasquinha do Lagarto and, among the many delicacies you’ll only find in a tavern like this, you’ll be able to taste the best Cozido in that part of Lisbon.
Just wait until you taste the rice. It’s simply divine!
Address: Rua de Campolide 258 (Alvalade)
Super Mário

In this typical Lisbon tavern near Largo do Carmo, in Chiado, you’ll hear the noise of the lunches, the crowded tables and, of course, the prices that only a tavern can offer.
You’ll also find some of the best delicacies such as Joaquinzinhos Fritos with Tomato Rice, Caras de Bacalhau or Feijoada à Transmontana, in half- or single-serving dishes.
On Tuesdays, you can’t miss the Cozido (Stew ), plated on a stainless steel platter that is perfect for two people.
All you have to do to get yours is arrive a little earlier than everyone else because it’s always packed with people who work in this part of the city.
Address: Rua do Duque 7/9 (Chiado)
The Courenses

In Alvalade, we also chose our favorite place to eat a good Cozido, at the restaurant “Os Courenses”.
Here, every Saturday and Thursday is a day for this delicious meat and sausage dish, always accompanied by the incredible broth and rice made from this same precious liquid.
Address: Rua José Duro 27D (Alvalade)
Popular do Capelo

Served in the right portions for one person, the Cozido à Portuguesa of this typical Lisbon restaurant, located in Chiado, promises to satisfy even the most demanding of this national delicacy.
Served every Wednesday, everything was delicious, from the diversity of the meats to the broth and the impeccable rice. We’ll definitely be back… many times!
Address: Rua Capelo 10 (Chiado)
Tasca do Miguel
One of the places where you can eat a good Cozido à Portuguesa in Lisbon is in Areeiro , a place also suggested by one of our readers.
A platter full of the best sausages and, on the side, a small bowl of rice from the stew and another with beans, just for those who like it.
Address: Rua Egas Moniz 45A (Areeiro)
Chiringuito Lisboa

The Chiringuito restaurant is one of the most traditional places in the city! Located in the Campo de Ourique neighborhood, its decor is really beautiful, looking like an Alentejo house.
And what used to be eaten a lot in a family home, at least on party weekends? Cozido à Portuguesa, of course! According to our readers, those who have tasted it, Chiringuito’s stew is very rich, full of good things, with very tasty meats, and is served every Sunday lunchtime as a buffet.
Address: Rua Correia Teles 41 (Campo de Ourique)
Tasca do Tretas
Wednesdays are Cozido à Portuguesa day at A Tasca do Tretas, which has nothing “tretas” about it, but has everything “tasca” about it, from the service to the typical space: tables on one side, counter on the other… and coffee with a smell for €0.70.
No, we haven’t tried it yet, because we went there on a Sunday, but when we were talking to the owner we quickly realized that the guests at the tables next to us were nodding “yes”, which can only validate that this will also be a good proposal for a stew.
Address: Rua Carlos Mardel 115A (Alameda)
Balcão do Marquês

This restaurant near the Marquês de Pombal serves stew on Tuesdays. But before we move on to the dish itself, we should point out that they also serve Sopa do Cozido, which is the best we’ve ever had.
As for the Cozido à Portuguesa, it’s perfectly good for one (hungry) person and comes with everything you need, from sausages of all kinds, cabbage, potatoes, beans, carrots and the also traditional cozido rice.
Address: Avenida Duque de Loulé 113-119 (Marquês)
