The Teatro Variedades, in Parque Mayer, reopened its doors to the public with a big cultural party over the weekend of October 5 and 6.
Three decades after its closure, the emblematic Teatro Variedades returned to shows, and then with a very diverse program, with cultural activities for everyone… and it was completely free.
Big cultural party
To celebrate the reopening of the Teatro Variedades, Joaquim René put together a program that appealed to all tastes , with plays , music, dance and performances, cinema and even urban art, among other activities for the whole family.
Admission to all the reopening events was free, with tickets only needing to be picked up in advance at the Parque Mayer central ticket office.
Each person can collect up to two tickets for two different shows.
What happened to Teatro Variedades?
The reopening of this Lisbon cultural venue is the result of a requalification project under the rule and square of architect Manuel Aires Mateus, who modernized the entire space while ensuring that its historical identity remained intact. After all, we’re talking about a cultural facility that is almost 100 years old, inaugurated on July 8, 1926.
As well as celebrating a grand reopening in the city, this moment also highlighted the importance of art and culture in Lisbon, providing yet another stage for local and international artists to showcase their craft.
