Príncipe Real continues to set the pace for days and nights in Lisbon. Amid streets lined with historic buildings and the constant buzz of conversation at the doorsteps, the capital’s classic spots are looking for ways to evolve.
That’s what happened to the iconic Pub Lisboeta, which was practically completely remodeled by the same group that owns Mercearia Pachecas.
However, the art of good service, the friendliness, and the mastery of bar chef Bruno Costa— who served us simple, classic, yet extremely well-mixed cocktails— remain at the heart of this bar’s DNA.
That’s what we went there to see for ourselves, in addition to “sampling” other delicacies!
The history of Pub Lisboeta

Opened in 2014, this nightlife spot has built its own legacy, standing out for its dark and distinctly industrial atmosphere.
In this Lisbon neighborhood, Pub Lisboeta was—and aims to remain—a classic spot to stop for a drink at the end of the day or simply for a snack at lunchtime or in the afternoon; in the evening, mixologist Bruno’s cocktails are a must.
Vera Black and Sara do Ó, two of the people behind this “update,” have taken on the mission of preserving the famous legacy while also meeting the demands of new customers:
What you’ll find at the new Pub Lisboeta

The new Pub Lisboeta has a fresh new look, with a more open and welcoming atmosphere, and now offers a different range of culinary options.
We started with the daily menu, which includes lunch options and small plates to share, in addition to the well-known cocktails that have always made this a landmark spot in Lisbon. The menu is curated by a familiar face, Bruno Costa, who was one of the new management’s key investments to “revive” one of the capital’s greatest icons.

As for the delicacies, we can’t save what we liked best for last : the enormous Portuguese-style Cozido Pie from Bitas, without a doubt the most delicious one our taste buds have ever experienced.
This was the dish that captured all our attention. This bold reinterpretation of a classic Portuguese recipe features a succulent, dense filling wrapped in crispy pastry. The generous portion and refined flavor justify our reaction:

Inspired by classics from our traditional cuisine— and more—at Pub Lisboeta you’ll also find cheese and charcuterie boards, croquettes, beef tartare, pinsas, and even oysters, among other delicious snacks.
As for desserts, which we also tried, the house specialty stands out: the Tiramisu Cocktail, where it was a delight to dip the Ladyfingers (champagne sticks) into the coffee topped with whipped cream.
