The SMS warning system launched by Lisbon aims to inform all citizens of any risk that may affect the capital, namely how to act in emergency situations, inform about adverse weather conditions or even how to proceed in the event of technological anomalies.
Managed by the Municipal Civil Protection Service, this innovative communication channel allows SMS messages to be sent directly to all those who choose to receive it.
As soon as you sign up , you will receive real-time alerts about events that may be disrupting the normal functioning of the city, such as the weather, fires, earthquakes or tsunamis, as well as other warnings related to technology (cyber attacks on institutions) and other dangers provided for in the Municipal Emergency and Civil Protection Plan.
A guide on how to act in the event of danger
The SMS warning system not only warns of imminent risks, but also provides practical guidance on how to act in emergency situations.
The recommendations include self-protection measures and safe behaviours that citizens should adopt to minimize the risks associated with each type of threat.
The implementation of this system reflects Lisbon City Council’s commitment to increasing the city’s resilience in the face of natural and technological disasters.
The initiative aims not only to improve public safety, but also to promote a culture of prevention and preparedness among residents.
Lisbon thus joins other cities that use this type of technology to protect their populations, through a proactive approach to urban risk management.
Joining the system is voluntary, but highly recommended for all residents who wish to be informed and prepared to deal with potential emergencies in the city.
All you have to do is send a message with the text “AvisosLx” to the number 927944000.
