To carry out this annual analysis, Resonance Consultancy evaluates several key factors related to quality of life, culture, work, travel and investment.
In this context, some of the world’s leading cities with a metropolitan area covering more than 1 million people are considered .
According to the consultancy, the final ranking is a combination of key statistics and data generated by online users from sources such as Google, TripAdvisor and Instagram, among others.
The essential pillars
This year, the previous categories (Place, Promotion, Product, Program, People and Prosperity) have been regrouped into three essential pillars:
- Liveability – which includes many aspects, such as the value of rents, the health system, public transport, the number of trees, the possibility of cycling, etc.
- Friendliness – restaurants, culture, shopping, tourist attractions, nightlife, etc.
- Prosperity – business ecosystem, poverty ratio, unemployment rate, air connections, etc.

Lisbon is highlighted as one of the European capitals with the best climate, appearing in 12th place when it comes to the ability to cycle around the city , as well as the level of tourist attractions on offer.
