Can you already smell the aroma of grilled sardines wafting through the streets of Lisbon? Over in the Graça neighborhood, in Vila Berta—one of the city’s most typical working-class neighborhoods— preparations have already begun for what will be the biggest party of the year on this small street.
When talking about Lisbon’s popular festivals, it’s impossible not to mention Vila Berta, which this year is getting ready to celebrate 15 years of a festival “in full swing.”
Our guide to Lisbon’s street festivals is now complete once you know everything that’s happening here, from the musical lineup to activities for the little ones, not to mention the must-have food and drinks, ranging from sardine grills to pork sandwiches.
What you’ll find at the 2026 edition

The 15th-anniversary celebration kicks off on June 3 and continues nonstop until St. Anthony’s Day, June 13.
The street “opens” its doors at 6 p.m., but there’s an exception for the little ones: on June 7, the Children’s Festival will take place, starting at 4 p.m. and ensuring that all families have their place at Lisbon’s traditional festivals.
The full musical lineup

This year’s lineup mixes the usual pimba and popular rhythms with nights dedicated to fado and traditional music, ensuring that the makeshift dance floor on the Portuguese cobblestones never goes empty:

- Tudo ao Molho: June6
- Children’s Festival (with Ricardo Reis Pinto): June 7

A classic that keeps the neighborhood spirit alive
After this interview we conducted with the organizers of this annual celebration, we were even more convinced that Vila Berta is truly special on the Lisbon Festival itinerary .
It’s not just the music and the atmosphere that keep us coming back; it’s the early 20th-century working-class architecture, with its wrought-iron balconies forming a sort of communal courtyard, that creates an intimate and authentic atmosphere the city’s larger festivals struggle to replicate.
