Quim Barreiros, Ágata, Mónica Sintra and Micaela, among many other guests, will be some of the main attractions at Popular Saints in Bairro Alto, better known as Arraial da Misericórdia , which this year will once again be held at the São Pedro de Alcântara viewpoint in Bairro Alto , from June 1 to 30.
Throughout the month, Popular Saints in Bairro Alto will host lots of musical entertainment, with popular music and DJs, but also dance groups, Fado concerts (which are the big novelty of the year), handicrafts and, of course, the beautiful sardines dripping on bread, among other traditional delicacies of the Santo António festivities.
Sardines, steaks and lots of partying
There isn’t a Lisbon festival worth its salt that doesn’t offer the famous grilled sardines. And at Santo António in Bairro Alto, at Arraial da Misericórdia, you’ll find not only this traditional snack but also bifanas, pão com chouriço, all kinds of sausages, sangria, farturas, among many other delicious options.
The feast of St. Anthony in Bairro Alto will also be attended by various associations from the parish of Misericórdia. To the President of the Parish Council, Carla Madeira,
In this season of Popular Saints, the Arraial da Misericórdia is a much-anticipated moment for the residents of the parish, but also for many of those who visit us. Over the years it has been designed and prepared to welcome those who want to have fun with family and friends. An arraial in an inviting space, with a fantastic view, where you can find the perfect combination of popular music, good food and drink and Portuguese handicrafts. We’re counting on everyone!”
Musical line-up at Arraial da Misericórdia
Once again, the music programmed for one of Lisbon’s biggest festivals will be as joyful as possible, with some of the best-known artists in Portuguese popular music.
Entertainment until the early hours
Arraial da Misericórdia is close to one of the city’s most nocturnal neighborhoods, Bairro Alto.
As well as being one of the highlights of Lisbon’s nightlife, is also one of the most typical neighborhoods. That’s why we believe that all the conditions are in place for you to have a great time between Sunday and Thursday from 10am to 10pm, and Fridays, Saturdays and national holiday from 10am to mid night.
Finally, on June 12, the eve of St. Anthony’s Day in Lisbon, the party goes on until 4am. Admission is always free!
