Art by Almada Negreiros
As part of the renovation of the permanent exhibition, MACAM will present the reunification of the emblematic “Alfaiataria Cunha” panels, which José de Almada Negreiros created in 1913.
According to MACAM’s press release , this is the “painter’s first commission and one of his first experiences with oil on canvas.”Currently divided between MACAM and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s Modern Art Center , the four panels are once again on display together.
Literature and poetry
On March 21, at 6:30 p.m., the famous writer Afonso Reis Cabral will lead the “Art and Literature” tour of Gallery 1 of the Permanent Exhibition, proposing a journey “where the works dialogue with major themes of Portuguese literature.”
On the same day, at 8 pm, you can attend a subtlepoetry recital with Eva and Diogo Doria, in an intimate setting, which explores the duality between painting and the world of verse.
Musical moments
Music plays an important role in the thematic program for MACAM’s first anniversary. Therefore, on March 21 and 22, at 5 p.m., you can attend “Canto dos Pássaros” (Song of the Birds) – a concert-performance by Nuno Cintrão.
Outside of the free program, the party ends on March 22 with a concert by Márcia at 8 p.m. at àCapela – Live Arts&Bar, with tickets on sale online and at the usual locations starting at €25.
