Open House Archaeology will return on the weekend of September 12–13 for what is now its 5th edition.
The event organized by the Lisbon Museum is taking on an unprecedented scale this year, expanding to ten new municipalities in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, with free admission as always .
We often “walk” over centuries of history without even realizing it. That is precisely the goal of Open House Archaeology, which was created to change this reality, promising to reveal all the heritage that lies “hidden” beneath your feet.
10 new municipalities join the archaeological route
The main attraction of this edition is the expansion into other areas near the Lisbon metropolitan area, allowing you to see up close the preserved remains found in the city and its surroundings, always accompanied by specialized experts and archaeologists.
Following the success and sold-out events of previous editions, the organizers decided to go beyond the capital’s borders and this year are offering you the chance to discover the hidden treasures of ten new municipalities:
The tours remain free, though subject to capacity limits at each site, and are designed for all ages, making it an ideal program for both the curious and families looking for a unique cultural activity over the weekend.
The complete list of archaeological sites to visit in each municipality will be released soon, along with the opening of registration.
