The river breeze hits you right in the face as the late afternoon light reflects off the calm waters of the Tagus. There, in front of the 25 de Abril Bridge and far from the urban hustle and bustle, the capital’s pace naturally slows down.
It is precisely on this north bank of the river that genuinely national flavors are shared under the open sky, a clear invitation to “park” the routine and prolong the conversation with a drink in hand, at Mister Tapas, of course, which was the place where we found all this and much more.
From a Piaggio scooter to the riverfront…
Since 2016, Mister Tapas has embraced its street food-on-wheels format: the operation began with a classic Piaggio scooter, where all the business logistics fit into a compact box measuring one square meter.
Anyone who works in such a small space quickly learns a new sense of proportion. As Oliver Gil, the head of this family project, pointed out to us , the main challenge of managing a food truck is realizing that the unit of measurement for space isn’t the square meter, but rather the cubic centimeter.
Today, with a slightly larger crowd, space remains a challenge, but the informal, friendly service on the riverside terrace has remained unchanged—a fact we verified on-site and through fact-checking on Google’s rankings, where this little gastronomic gem boasts an incredible 4.6-star rating (based on nearly three thousand reviews).
An authentic national delicacy in the open air

The great advantage of this food truck, aside from being just a stone’s throw from our beloved Tagus River, is the quality of its 100% Portuguese products.
The famous appetizer platter alternates the creamy texture of Azeitão cheese with the intense flavor of semi-cured Ilha cheese. It must be accompanied by fresh baguettes that arrive at the food truck every day. To honor the tradition that dictates “cheese must be paired with chorizo,” the sausages complete the sharing experience.
Along with the mixed platter, they also prepare generous toasts with avocado, sun-dried tomatoes, walnuts, and olives, and even burgers with all the trimmings.
As for drinks, the glasses are filled with ice-cold caipirinhas, among other more or less exotic delights, ideal for cooling off from the Lisbon heat.
The philosophy of those who serve reflects the relaxed atmosphere of the boardwalk: as they say there,
