Metropolitano de Lisboa has also announced that it will extend the operating hours on two of its lines, Blue and Green, on the night of Santo António, from Wednesday (the 12th) to Thursday (the 13th), until 3am.
This is in line with what the main public transport bodies have been announcing in recent days. CP – Comboios de Portugal also announced three new trains with special timetables.
Still on the subject of ways to improve circulation and mobility for all those wishing to celebrate the Santos Populares in Lisbon, EMEL has also made available eight of its free parking lots.
No stress at Lisbon’s Santos Populares
The main purpose of these measures by Metro de Lisboa in Santos is to make life easier for Lisbon residents and tourists who come to take part in the city’s Santos Populares festivities, where the festivals are the biggest attraction, practically in every neighborhood in Alfacinha.
As usual on the “longest night of the year”, the streets will be packed with people who want to celebrate the city’s patron saint like there’s no tomorrow.
Not to mention that these festivities also include parades, events, live music and lots of entertainment into the night.
Security and convenience
This way, with the extension of timetables on two of the capital’s busiest lines, metro users can opt for a safer and more convenient means of transport to get to the party and back home.
Here is the timetable for the Lisbon Metro Lines in Santos:
- Blue Line with all stations open until 3am, except for Avenida, Alfornelos, Alto dos Moinhos, Praça de Espanha and Parque stations, which close at 1am;
- Green Line with all stations open until 03h, with the exception of Roma, Arroios and Intendente stations, which close at 01h;
- Yellow Line with normal service (stations close at 01:00);
- Red Line with normal service (stations close at 01:00).
