Lisbon’s new green haven, the Mar e Vila Urban Park, has just opened its doors in the Marvila neighborhood , having cost around four million euros.
This is already the second major park you can visit in this part of the capital— the first is Parque Ribeirinho Oriente, which opened in 2020—indicating that this area is undergoing a surprising transformation, with spaces designed to change the daily lives of Lisbon residents, especially those living in the parishes of Beato and Marvila.
What does the new Mar e Vila Urban Park offer?

If you’re looking for a new outdoor spot to relax or simply take a stroll over the weekend, Mar e Vila Urban Park is the destination you should save in your GPS.
The redevelopment of these types of “open” spaces is a trend in the city; we recall that, in Belém, the Parque Ativo de Belém was also recently inaugurated , distinguished by its more athletic focus, notably featuring a calisthenics course, one of the most comprehensive in the country.
At Mar e Vila Urban Park, the main goal was to create an authentic urban ecosystem, enhancing public spaces with more green areas to encourage a more active lifestyle in direct contact with nature.

Among the main highlights you’ll find at Mar e Vila Urban Park, we’d like to highlight:
- Sports and mobility infrastructure
- Spacious recreational areas
- Integrated sustainability

A new green park in the city is always a good sign , and there can never be too many parks. Marvila, known for its warehouses—many of which are in an advanced state of disrepair —now has a large-scale green “lung,” making this neighborhood more beautiful and improving air quality.
