It’s no surprise: Lisbon is a true success story beyond its borders. The Portuguese capital is frequently highlighted for thequality of its cuisine, cultural offerings, vibrant colors… and now as the best family vacation destination in Europe this summer.
We didn’t say it—a recent study by the TUI Group, one of the leading international tour operators , did. Among more than 150 coastal cities and seaside destinations, Lisbon was ranked first with a score of 9.16 out of 10.
Why Lisbon
According to the study, cited by the Lisbon Tourism Association, the analysis conducted by the TUI Group was based on criteria such as:
- Activities for children
- Diversity of experiences
- Availability of family-friendly accommodations
- Weather conditions during the summer.
The Portuguese capital stood out for the balance of these factors, as well as for its high number of theme and leisure parks, family-friendly hotels, and a diverse range of cultural and leisure experiences.
There is another Portuguese city…
Meanwhile, Jornal de Notícias, which cites the same study, reveals that another Portuguese city stands out: Porto, which ranks third, just behind Naples (Italy), with a score of 9.01 out of 10.
