These days, Street Smash Burgers locations are seeing high foot traffic with the launch of a new limited-edition item that brings together two culinary icons: in an unprecedented partnership with KAU BBQ, a specialist in smoked meats, the brands have created the Pastrami Burger, a menu item that will be available for only a short time —we’ve heard it’s two months— at all their locations in Portugal and also in Italy.
The “eighth wonder of the world”
We knowthat’s an exaggeration, but the truth is, we were really surprised by the final result of this Pastrami Burger.
The new item stands out by combining, in a single bun, the classic “smash”-style burger— characterized by its thin, crispy edges— with two thick slices of cured and smoked pastrami .
The goal of the collaboration is to combine the crispy texture of the pressed patty with the juiciness and tenderness of the smoked meat (12 days), resulting in a dense, well-filled interior.
The final assembly also includes melted cheese and a spiced sauce, served inside a soft bun that soaks up the juices from both meats.
In our experience , we could clearly taste the immediate contrast between the burger’s crispy exterior and the juiciness and aromas of the pastrami— a fusion that has led Street Smash Burgers locations to sell out of the product practically every day, judging by the lines.
This Pastrami Burger costs €14.90 for the basic version, and if you opt for the full meal (a combo with fries and a drink), the price rises to €18.90, which we already consider a bit steep.
