It won’t be long before the festive spirit of the Popular Saints takes over Lisbon’s neighborhoods with countless street parties. To celebrate Lisboners’ favorite month, Villa Sambô has decided to host a completely free event that brings the best of traditional Brazilian June festivals to the Portuguese capital .
Part of the “Santos em Santos” project, “Villa Sambô at the June Festivals” will take place over eight Sundays (May 31; June 7, 14, 21, and 28; July 5, 12, and 19), always from 4 p.m. to midnight, in front of Terrapleno de Santos.
From music to traditional cuisine
What unites the Portuguese and the Brazilians? Far beyond the language, it is their enormous passion for popular festivals. With the aim of uniting the spirit of Lisbon’s Popular Saints with the atmosphere of the Brazilian-style São João celebration, “Villa Sambô at the June Festivals” comes to us.
The program includes performances of sertanejo, forró, and pagode music, traditional cuisine, themed decor, live DJs , and various recreational activities such as traditional games, dance circles, and the famous June costume contests.
