Jardim Sá da Bandeira’s Inclusive Playground is Lisbon’s new inclusive playground, where all children have the right to play, as some of these playgrounds in Lisbon are not suitable for all realities.
This is another playground to add to many others in the city, and also in the surrounding area, and this one is very special because, according to those responsible for the Misericórdia Parish Council,
was designed for all children, regardless of their physical or cognitive condition.”
It’s in Cais do Sodré
The latest playground for the little ones is at Cais do Sodré, in Praça D. Luís, next to the Ribeira Market.
In order to captivate the little ones, the new inclusive playground is equipped with all kinds of amusements that can help further develop children’s motor, cognitive, social, emotional and creative skills, allowing them to grow up healthier.
The floor is totally safe, similar to all the ones we see in other playgrounds, and has eight pieces of inclusive play equipment, including a trampoline that can be used by children in wheelchairs, and a bus-shaped slide with an access ramp.
The new park has also been equipped with supporting street furniture, covering a total area of346m2,234m2more than it had previously.
The parish also said that all the work was financed by the organization, with an investment of around 100,000 euros, . They also had the advice of the Salvador Association, which provided all its knowledge for the development of some of the entertainment equipment.
The new inclusive playground was designed for all children, not only in the parish, but in the city of Lisbon, promoting more opportunities for all, and allowing all children to play safely.
